Another striker signing or two seems inevitable for Leeds United this summer, but who they eventually sign remains to be seen.
Leeds United’s striker department is looking like the weakest one for the club right now. Less than two weeks ahead of the new season and Daniel Farke really only has two first-team strikers in Joel Piroe and Lukas Nmecha, and neither have any real Premier League experience.
Meanwhile, Mateo Joseph has handed in a transfer request and looks set to leave, so too does Patrick Bamford. After signing a goalkeeper, defenders and midfielders, it looks like Leeds will spend the rest of the summer transfer window signing attacking players, with not only a striker needed, but a new number 10 and a new winger too.
And so far this summer, Leeds United have been linked with a number of strikers, with more and more being linked as the days go by. One more recent name linked is Artem Dovbyk at Roma.

Transfer update on Leeds United target Artem Dovbyk at Roma
Dovbyk, 28, is a recent target at Elland Road. Reports have revealed that Leeds United are interested in signing Dovbyk from Roma, who’s so far spent just one season with the Italian club and scored 12 goals in 32 Serie A games, but there are multiple teams looking to sign the Ukrainian international.
Last week, reports revealed that Newcastle United had opened talks to sign Dovbyk, whilst Villarreal have also been linked. However, an emerging report from Spanish outlet AS has revealed that Villarreal aren’t willing to go past €20million to sign Dovbyk, with Roma’s asking price set at €30million (£26.1million). There is also AC Milan who are now interested in signing Dovbyk.
Leeds United play AC Milan in a pre-season friendly on Saturday, but the Italian giants could well sign Dovbyk from Roma before then.
There is now a twist for Leeds United in Artem Dovbyk transfer race
Already this summer, Leeds United have missed out on a number of striker targets and the next one to be added to the list could be Nikola Krstovic. Leeds United have shown an interest in signing Krstovic from Lecce this summer but the Montenegrin international has been valued close to £30 million, seemingly putting him out of the 49ers‘ range.
Now though it is reported that Roma could replace Dovbyk with Krstovic. Calcio Mercato report that Roma have made Krstovic a prime striker target this summer after the striker handed in a transfer request.
Leeds United’s links to the 25-year-old have been on and off throughout the summer but if Roma sign Krstovic then it could force Leeds into a deal for Dovbyk in what could be a sort of one-in-one-out striker move at Roma this summer.
For Leeds though Dovbyk seems like just one option and for Dovbyk Leeds seems like just one option as well.
If the Whites really want to sign the Ukrainian then they need to act fast and bring him in. Needless to say, a striker or two is definitely needed at Elland Road before the summer transfer window shuts.
