Leeds United’s priorities in the transfer market have been reduced to just two after the signing of Lucas Perri in goal, and one of them is the signing of a new centre-forward.

Perri sorts out the need for a new goalkeeper, while Adam Underwood has worked tirelessly to form a new-look defence for Daniel Farke. In come Jaka Bijol, Sebastiaan Bornauw and Gabriel Gudmundsson.

Perri, Bijol and Gudmundsson are expected to be first choice in the back five, with Jayden Bogle and Joe Rodon remaining from last season. In midfield, Anton Stach and Sean Longstaff have arrived for £34.9m.

Lukas Nmecha has come in up top, but Leeds were always planning to sign a first-choice striker ahead of the Germany striker. Fulham’s Rodrigo Muniz has been the no.1 target, but Fulham want a massive £50m.

Others have been linked, with reports in Italy strongly linked Leeds with Lecce’s Nikola Krstovic. Now, new reports in Italy claim Leeds and West Ham have opened talks to sign a striker currently on Roma’s books.

Leeds make enquiry to sign Roma striker Artem Dovbyk

According to Italian site Giallorossi.net, Leeds and West Ham have both made enquiries to sign Roma’s Ukraine striker Artem Dovbyk. It comes just one season after Dovbyk made the move to the Italian side.

Starring for Girona in a season where the Spaniards shocked all by qualifying for the Champions League, Dovbyk made a £30m move to Roma. Last season, he scored 17 goals in all competitions for the Italians.

But, Roma fans are not overly convinced and neither are the club, as they pursue a new striker. But to do so, they need to sell Dovbyk and it is claimed Leeds and West Ham both want the Ukraine powerhouse.

It is believed Roma have set a price for Dovbyk, requesting interested parties pay the same £30m fee that they splashed out a year ago. Roma are under no pressure to sell, with his contract set to expire in 2029.

How Dovbyk and Nikola Krstovic compared during 2024-25

Krstovic was strongly linked with Leeds last month and at the beginning of this month, but sources on this side of the pond have always rubbished any chance of Leeds pursuing a move for Lecce’s star man.

It comes after Krstovic netted an impressive 11 Serie A goals last season, in a side that finished 17th and secured safety by the skin of their teeth. Krstovic almost scored half of Lecce’s 27 league goals last term.

Dovbyk netted 12 times in Serie A last season. He did it in a much better side where chances are more readily available, but without starting week in, week out. He scored a total of 17 goals in all competitions.

At £30m, Dovbyk would represent a £20m saving on Muniz, but there are question marks over whether he would be as good as Muniz. The Brazilian is experienced in the Premier League and is open to a move.
