While things might not have gone completely to plan over the last week, Adam Underwood has proved the Leeds United doubters wrong with seven signings already in the door.
Billed as the club’s most important transfer window for years, Leeds needed a big summer and plenty of signings to stand a chance of Premier League survival. Underwood was handed the sporting director role.
Untested in that position, fans were dubious to say the least. But Leeds have managed to bring in some quality players like Jaka Bijol, Lucas Perri, Anton Stach and Gabriel Gudmundsson, all for small-ish fees.
Michael Bridges says Leeds have got a “steal” in Sean Longstaff at £15m. The deal for Longstaff shows how hard Underwood is working to get value for money, saving cash to spend on other areas.

Adam Underwood pulling out all the stops, agent Karl Darlow
Leeds will only pay an initial £12m to Newcastle, with £3m in add-ons agreed. It is unclear what are the add-ons, but it is likely to be remaining in the Premier League as well as performance-related add-ons.
Bridges also told Leeds Live regarding Longstaff’s arrival, how it was not just the Leeds transfer team trying to get a deal over the line. He says Karl Darlow was working “non-stop” to convince Longstaff.

“We’re getting somebody who’s coming to his peak to play in midfield with Premier League experience. Karl Darlow was trying to get him here like non-stop. He said the lads have been very accommodating.”
How much Leeds have spent so far on their seven signings…
Longstaff’s £15m fee seems like a solid deal. Leeds know what they’re getting with the former Newcastle man, and it is a lot less risky than the other additions, who are yet to play in the Premier League.

Leeds have also spent £15m on Bijol, while goalkeeper Perri cost £15.6m. With add-ons, Stach will rise to £19.9m. So far, Leeds have spent as much as £80.5m but spread across seven signings, it is rather cheap.
More signings are expected with the plenty expected to be splashed on a new left winger, and a striker. Cover for outgoing Isaac Schmidt is required, while Leeds could still look to sign an attacking midfielder.
