Leeds United’s recruitment team already appears to be hard at work ahead of the summer.
The Whites will be preparing for both scenarios come the end of the season as they currently occupy a place in the Championship’s top two, but are still very much in a battle to secure promotion.
In the event an immediate return to the Premier League is sealed, Leeds have already been linked with a move for Borussia Monchengladbach left-back Luca Netz.
There are also reports that Leeds have submitted a £7 million offer for Fenerbahce’s Bright Osayi-Samuel, and it now appears the Whites are also looking at one of his teammates.
According to Aksam, Leeds are expected to move for striker Michy Batshuayi, who is out of contract at the Turkish side at the end of the season and at this stage, does not look as though he will be offered a new one.
Leeds eyeing Batshuayi move
The 30-year-old is set to be available on a free transfer in the summer and the report states Leeds will make him an offer if they are promoted to the Premier League.
Batshuayi has been in excellent form this season for Fenerbahce, scoring 20 goals in 34 appearances across all competitions, and already has plenty of experience in England.
He scored 25 goals in 77 appearances for Chelsea, and has also spent time at clubs such as Valencia, Borussia Dortmund and Marseille, with his record at most clubs pretty solid.
During his time at Stamford Bridge, Batshuayi’s attitude and quality were both hailed as ‘top class’ by Frank Lampard, who was manager of Chelsea for a brief period.
If Leeds are to get promoted, they should certainly be looking at players with experience like this, given how young the squad was when they were relegated last season.
