Leeds have done incredibly well in recent weeks to surge away from the relegation zone.
Daniel Farke has left West Ham eating his dust as a remarkable seven-game unbeaten run moved Leeds eight points away from the bottom three.
Understandably, West Ham are desperately trying to bridge the gap, already spending £26m to sign two new strikers in Taty Castellanos – who Leeds wanted – from Lazio, along with a £22m deal for Pablo Felipe from Gil Vicente.
These moves have left Callum Wilson in a difficult position, and Claret & Hugh now believe Leeds are alert to the possibility of signing the 33-year-old.
Leeds United interested in Callum Wilson deal
Nobody would have expected West Ham to help strengthen Leeds heading into this transfer window, but that is exactly what could happen.
Do YOU want Leeds to sign Callum Wilson? 🤔
It would be SO sweet if he helps us survive while Taty Castellanos and Pablo Felipe take West Ham down 🤣
Claret & Hugh state that West Ham are expected to let Wilson leave this month after spending heavily to sign Castellanos and Felipe, who only have one spot to fight for in the 4-2-3-1 formation used by Nuno Espirito Santo.
As a result, Leeds are closely monitoring the situation along with Nottingham Forest.
Claret & Hugh even say the 49ers are ‘particularly’ keen due to PSR issues at Elland Road, which limit how much Leeds can spend on a backup for Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha.
Wilson signed a heavily incentivised 12-month contract with West Ham back in August after experiencing a range of injury problems at Newcastle.

So, it can be assumed the England international himself will want to leave this month, as his chances of triggering payment clauses will obviously reduce now Castellanos and Felipe have shoved him down the pecking order.
Wilson – who Eddie Howe once said could boast an “excellent” goal record – has managed to make 17 Premier League appearances so far this season, scoring four goals and providing one assist.
Overall, the man born in Coventry has netted 92 goals in 256 Premier League games.
Callum Wilson is exactly what Daniel Farke needs
If West Ham really are ready to let Wilson move to Leeds, it would be utterly ideal for the 49ers.
Which striker would you like at Leeds the most? 🤑
Farke just needs somebody who can fulfil a backup role to help lessen the workload on Calvert-Lewin and Nmecha, who are both highly prone to injuries themselves.
Therefore, taking the experienced Wilson on a six-month deal makes a lot of sense, both financially for the 49ers and in terms of the profile Farke needs for this very particular role.
It would make no sense to spend heavily on an exciting young talent such as Troy Parrott – who Leeds admire – right now.
That can be saved for when survival is secured and the June 30th PSR deadline passes, but for this current moment in time, a cheap, experienced and reliable option like Wilson ticks every box.
