Adam Underwood is about to complete his work in Leeds United’s engine room with a deal for Anton Stach expected to be announced in the next 24 hours, costing Leeds almost £20m.

Germany international Stach is set to become Leeds’ sixth summer signing, and their most expensive of the summer. Leeds will pay an initial £17.3m for Hoffenheim’s giant midfielder, and add-ons of £2.6m.

Stach joins Leeds after The Whites finally got a deal over the line for Sean Longstaff. A fourth bid was reluctantly accepted by Newcastle United, costing Leeds an initial £12m plus a further £3m in add-ons.

But another midfielder on the Leeds list could now end up at Manchester United. Leeds faced Man United on Saturday and it was rather an equal affair, with Ruben Amorim surprised at how good Leeds were.

Manchester United consider £26m bid for Leeds midfield target

Earlier this summer, before Leeds chose to hone in on Longstaff and Stach as their midfield additions, Leeds were interested in a deal for Gabriel Sara. The Brazilian has starred since moving to Galatasaray.

But English fans will mostly know the Brazilian from his time at Daniel Farke’s old side Norwich City. Leeds were interested in returning Sara to English football after just one year, but chose not to pursue a deal.

Perhaps, doing business with Galatasaray put them off – or, the £26m price tag. Now, Turkish outlet Aksam say Manchester United are considering a £26m bid to land ball-playing midfielder Sara this week.

Gabriel Sara was a long-term target for Daniel Farke and Leeds

Even prior to his move to Galatasaray in the summer of 2024, Leeds were interested in nabbing Sara from Norwich. But the weight of a club in European football, fighting for titles, was tempting for the Brazilian.

That could well happen again, with Sara a target for Manchester United. Interestingly, earlier this summer, Sara was linked with a move to Man City. It appears a return to English football is on the cards for Sara.

Meanwhile, Leeds are expected to announce Stach at any minute, before moving on to targeting players like a new goalkeeper, a left winger and a striker. Lucas Perri, Igor Paixao and Rodrigo Muniz are targets.
