Leeds United look set to make a profit on Jack Harrison after genius PSR play

Jack Harrison’s future is causing all sorts of trouble for Leeds United this window.

The 28-year-old is obviously back at Leeds, and after a disappointing tenure with Everton, it’s not welcomed by the fanbase.

Harrison managed just one goal involvement in the entirety of his second loan spell with the Toffees, and this will no doubt have Daniel Farke questioning his status in the squad.

Harrison is likely to be offloaded, as Everton want Harrison on a free transfer, with the Whites having the option to terminate his contract.

But whether this will happen is unlikely with PSR implications involved, and instead, the 49ers can produce a masterclass in terms of Harrison’s sale.

Leeds United look set to make a profit on Jack Harrison

It’s an awkward situation to have a player not wanted, but Harrison has acted professionally in training despite Leeds’ desire to get rid.

The winger was obviously a success during his time at Elland Road, but his wish to play Premier League football was there when the Whites suffered relegation in 2023.

His quality was shown on various occasions in Yorkshire, and this brings reason why Farke could give him the chance.

But it’s been made clear that Everton want to sign Harrison, which gives Leeds the chance to cash in.

According to Graham Smyth’s recent newsletter for Inside Elland Road, he points out the fact that the 49ers will make a profit on any suitable fee submitted for the winger.

Smyth states how the Whites paid £11m for him in 2021, but thanks to the amortisation of transfer fees across the length of players’ contracts, any fee ‘upwards of around £3m’ would now count as profit.

With Leeds’ tricky PSR position this summer, and the thought of a Premier League-level squad in mind, it appears to be a ‘win-win’, with Harrison’s sale helping PSR, but also keeping him adds a player who’s experienced in the top flight.

The ‘problem’ Leeds have with Harrison’s future

Despite a ‘win-win’ situation clearly being on the table, Farke might not be too keen to keep Harrison.

But the other ‘problem’ is Leeds are unlikely to sell Harrison due to his sizeable contract, and Everton probably do not like the idea of paying a fee.

Of course, now profit for Leeds is on the table, they will hope interested clubs will come knocking, but it’s been quiet on that front since Harrison’s dismal league season, which only saw him find the net once.

Harrison will likely not feature against Man United in pre-season, which could be the story for the Whites’ opening games as a whole for the winger, as it seems Farke’s message is clear, but no one is taking the bait.
