Daniel Farke has worked wonders with his first-team squad in recent weeks, as Leeds have built a cushion on the sides below them in the Premier League relegation battle.

However, they remain in the market to strengthen their squad in January, with Union Berlin’s Danilho Doekhi one of several players linked with a move to Elland Road.

Now, reports in Croatia have suggested that the Whites also have one eye on the future, as they look to go head-to-head with Atletico Madrid and Juventus for a talented young forward.

Leeds United eyeing move for talented Croatian striker

According to a report from Sportske.jutarnji.hr, Leeds are one of three clubs in the running to sign rising star Karlo Šimić.

Šimić was born in Germany but has represented Croatia as a youth international and currently plays in the Wolfsburg youth set-up.

The report states that Leeds are among the clubs monitoring his progress, but they face stiff competition, as Sportske Jutarnji explain: “Several clubs are interested in Karlo Šimić, the 19-year-old striker who plays for Wolfsburg U19 and Croatia U19.

“We have learned that it is true that Šimić has caught the eye of many parties, with Juventus, Atletico Madrid and Leeds among those interested.

“Young Šimić has scored 10 goals in 9 games for Wolfsburg this season, and also has three goals for the young Croatian team led by Siniša Oreščanin.”

Leeds United could use Lukas Nmecha connection in Simic deal

While Šimić remains a relatively unknown quantity at senior level, his goal record in the German youth system suggests he is a player with exceptional potential.

Leeds could also have a link with the young striker, having signed star forward Lukas Nmecha from Wolfsburg in the summer.

Nmecha spent four years at Wolfsburg, between 2021 and 2025, before completing his move to Elland Road on a free transfer.

With the likes of Atletico Madrid and Juventus also in the race, Leeds need to use every advantage they can get if they hope to land the young striker.
