Leeds United fans have one dream signing in mind ahead of the summer. But before any of that, Daniel Farke must get the job done in the Championship.

Leeds United fans are dreaming about summer signings and about away days to some of the Premier League’s biggest stadiums. And despite promotion not yet being guaranteed, Leeds fans can be forgiven for dreaming.

Their team has emerged as by far the most potent in the league after back-to-back wins; against Sunderland and then a 3-1 win at Sheffield United to cement their place at the top of the Championship table.

What was a five point lead at the top is now a three point lead after a 1-1 draw against West Brom last time out. But there looks to be nothing stopping Daniel Farke’s side from going on and claiming a spot in the Premier League for next season.

Doing so would surely spark a mini summer rebuild of the playing squad. Whilst Leeds boast a strong side already, much more quality and depth too will be needed to ensure the Whites can retain their Premier League status.

Leeds United learn James Trafford’s transfer wish ahead of summer

One player who may need replacing in the summer is Illan Meslier. The Frenchman has struggled in recent weeks and Farke has been urged to ditch Meslier in the event of Leeds earning promotion to the Premier League.

That would mean a new no.1 being brought in. Recently, Leeds have been linked with Aaron Ramsdale at Southampton, along with Liverpool and Republic of Ireland shot-stopper Caoimhin Kelleher.

But speaking out on X recently, Leeds United fans say that want James Trafford bringing in from Burnley: he has the most clean sheets in the Championship this season (24), ahead of Meslier in 2nd (20).

GIVEMESPORT have now revealed that Trafford is open to leaving Burnley in the summer and open to moving to Newcastle United, who are keen on a move for the £30million-rated Englishman.

But the same report states that Trafford is not ready to be a no.2. He wants to be the starting goalkeeper wherever he ends up, and that might play into Leeds’ favour should they take an interest in the 22-year-old.

Illan Meslier could throw a spanner in the works at Leeds United

Meslier is certainly in a difficult period right now. But recent reports have revealed that Meslier wants to stay at Leeds United beyond this season and be the club’s no.1 goalkeeper in the top flight.

Whether that’d be plausible remains to be seen. Farke might have seen enough errors in the Championship to think that a new no.1 would be his main priority upon promotion, but Meslier would be a decent no.2.

Though if Leeds did bring in a new no.1 then Meslier could then decide he wants to leave, as he’ll surely want a starting spot. Leeds would then need two new goalkeepers.

The goalkeeper department could certainly see a shake up at Elland Road this summer.
