Leeds United fans are all saying the same thing as Manor Solomon tells Tottenham he wants to stay

When Manor Solomon scored the winner for Leeds United against Plymouth in the final game of the season to win the Championship title, the feeling was that he would stay put.

Solomon, on loan from Tottenham, netted in injury time against Plymouth to win the Championship title after Leeds had already secured promotion. Solomon ended the season with a huge 23 goals and assists.

The winger had dropped several hints about a move to Leeds. But the former Fulham and Shakhtar Donetsk ace returns to Spurs who have qualified for the Champions League and could need a winger.

Son Heung-min has been linked with a surprise Spurs exit, while Mathys Tel has signed permanently but is naturally a striker. Solomon has informed Tottenham he would like to stay and earn a second chance.

Leeds United fans discuss new Manor Solomon reports

Solomon was arguably a contender for Leeds’ Player of the Season award. But now, it seems that the on-loan Spurs man will return to London and try to break into the Spurs side next term, under Thomas Frank.

Thomas Frank is keen to take a look at Solomon, having replaced Ange Postecoglou – the man to sign Solomon on a free from Shakhtar. It might be that Spurs choose to sell him nearer the transfer deadline.

Leeds fans have responded to the reports that Solomon – at least, for now – will remain at Tottenham. Many believe that while signing Solomon would have been great, the club can do better after promotion.

One said that “if his heart is not into coming to Leeds”, then the club should not try to pursue a deal. That is the feeling among those reacting on social media, another posting, “I think we can get better for less.”

More reaction continued to arrive, with another saying “I’m not too disappointed”, while one said “we can get much better now” with Leeds back in the Premier League after a two-year hiatus following relegation.

“No point wasting more time on him” was the reaction of another Leeds fans to the reports, with many seemingly feeling that if Leeds can get him then it would be great – but if they can’t, move on to others.

How much Tottenham feel they can get for Manor Solomon

The above report from Leeds Live’s Isaac Johnson states that a Spurs insider says the club feel the wide man is a top-end Championship player. These days, such players can fetch figures up to £30m-£40m.

That is a whole lot more than the £15m-£20m fee that was originally suggested, which is the kind of fee Leeds are expected to pay for Jaka Bijol. Any fee is profit for Tottenham after signing him on a free.

One to watch perhaps and it will be interesting to see if Leeds pursue other targets and try to bring in a new winger, or wait and see what happens with Solomon. Certainly, Solomon will be an expensive buy.
