Leeds United will feel betrayed after the representatives of Julian Brandt were spotted leaving another club’s premises after behind-the-scenes transfer talks.
Daniel Farke delivered a veiled ultimatum to his Elland Road bosses at the end of last season, suggesting that his long-term future in West Yorkshire depends on how he is backed in the transfer market.
Simon Jordan will be upset, but Paraag Marathe and Co. have responded positively to the German tactician, lining up Harry Wilson on a free transfer as the Whites’ first signing of the summer.
Leeds United have more ambitious swoops in the works, with Sporting CP’s Ousmane Diomande emerging as a potential record-breaking signing.
Meanwhile, talks to take Brandt to Elland Road on a free transfer following his exit from Borussia Dortmund have also taken place, much to Farke’s delight.

Julian Brandt offered to Real Betis in private meeting
However, Brandt has indirectly made it clear that a move to Leeds United does not necessarily tempt him, despite having a German manager at the helm.
Spanish outlet ElDesmarque has shared a picture of the 30-year-old’s representatives, including his father, leaving Real Betis’ training ground on Tuesday morning.
The entourage is said to have offered the departing Borussia Dortmund attacker’s services to the La Liga club in a major blow for Farke‘s side.

Real Betis are in the process of strengthening their squad, particularly in midfield, as they prepare for their return to the UEFA Champions League.
However, the Manuel Pellegrini-coached side are not currently pursuing a move for Brandt, as things stand.
Betis are pushing to get a deal for Uruguayan midfielder Facundo Bernal across the line, after which they will focus on signing either Dani Ceballos or Rangers ace Nicolas Raskin.

Leeds United must back out of Brandt transfer after betrayal
There is no doubt. Brandt would be a very high-profile signing for Leeds United if they get it across the line.
However, the German clearly thinks he is good enough to play for a Champions League club and only seems to have the Whites as a backup option.
While the attacker would arguably be Farke’s best signing at Elland Road, there is no need for the club to wait around and see if he runs out of options.
Kerim Alajbegovic is having an impressive 2026 FIFA World Cup run with Bosnia & Herzegovina, and the Premier League club would be smart to ditch Brandt to pursue a deal for the Bayer Leverkusen ace, having already held initial talks.
