Leeds United are the most interested club in signing international forward who could replace Georginio Rutter

Having landed Crysencio Summerville’s replacement, all eyes will now be on who Leeds United choose to fill the void left by Georginio Rutter.

The importance of getting those two signings right cannot be understated for Leeds considering they contributed to a total of 50 goals during the 2023/24 Championship season.

Leeds finally ended their 32-day wait for a new signing on Thursday night as they confirmed the arrival of UD Almeria winger Largie Ramazani.

As mentioned, Ramazani is the man seen as the natural successor to Summerville after putting pen-to-paper on a four-year-deal at Elland Road.

However, Leeds have no time to take stock in the market with just a week to go until the deadline slams shut, and three more signings still on the cards.

Leeds are the most ‘persistent suitors’ for Roland Sallai

Daniel Farke has an important game against Sheffield Wednesday to prepare for this evening as Leeds look to secure their first win of the new season.

That does not mean the work will be stopping behind-the-scenes on who could be next and Leeds are in the market for a new left-footed attacker.

Manuel Benson, Calvin Stengs, Ilan Kebbal and Roland Sallai are all players on Leeds’ long shortlist, and according to Hungarian outlet Mandiner, things are looking fairly promising for the latter.

The report states Leeds are currently the most ‘persistent suitors’ for Sallai, which does marry up to the recent suggestions by the English media.

Leeds are said to have made an approach for Sallai much earlier in the window but saw their trail go cold and so moved on.

However, Leeds’ decision to be patient in the window may have paid off with Sallai looking like he will be available in the next seven days.

Freiburg need a sale amid Leeds interest in Sallai

Another factor which could swing in Leeds’ favour is that Freiburg are in the market for a new attacker, but must sell one before they can move.

The Bundesliga side are keen on signing Hertha BSC winger Fabian Reese but must get rid of someone first, with a likely candidate being Sallai.

Sallai would represent a significant coup for Leeds considering his international pedigree with Hungary, which has seen him score 13 goals in 52 caps.

He would also add some much needed experience to a very young frontline at Leeds, something which Farke is known to want.
