Adam Underwood has sorted out the Leeds United defence and is about to complete his work in the middle of the park too, with Sean Longstaff signed and Anton Stach following.

In defence, Leeds needed to replace Junior Firpo and sign a centre-back. They’ve done that with Jaka Bijol and Gabriel Gudmundsson to the tune of £25m, while £5m Sebastiaan Bornauw has replaced Max Wober.

In midfield, Leeds lost Joe Rothwell and Josuha Guilavogui at the end of last season. With Daniel Farke changing formation to a 4-3-3, Leeds needed to sign two midfielders able to do both sides of the game.

Longstaff arrives in a deal worth £15m from Newcastle and Stach is set to sign from Hoffenheim, boosting the height of the squad. Hoffenheim’s sporting director has confirmed Stach’s move is almost done.

Leeds have made a loan bid for Fenerbahce defender Diego Carlos

It is likely that the timing of this loan bid may have come before the signings of Bijol and Bornauw, with the need for another centre-back almost at zero. But, reports from Turkey say Leeds want Diego Carlos.

Takvim report that Leeds, Sunderland and Burnley have all made loan offers to land the Brazilian giant this summer, with Jose Mourinho open to Carlos’ exit. It is unclear if Fenerbahce are open to loaning him out.

Carlos’ career has dwindled somewhat. Joining Aston Villa for a huge £26m in the summer of 2022, the big Brazilian ruptured his achilles shortly after signing and only managed 40 games for Unai Emery’s side.

Leeds focus will now turn to three key positions this summer

With Stach a done deal, Leeds have three remaining issues to sort. A new goalkeeper remains a key area, while replacing Manor Solomon on the left is pivotal. Largie Ramazani is the only real left-sided winger.

Up top, Leeds made it clear they wanted a starting striker after the addition of Lukas Nmecha. Patrick Bamford has been told he can leave while Leeds are holding an auction to sell Mateo Joseph this summer.

So, a goalkeeper, a left-winger and a starting striker. The three most-likely additions are Brazilian trio Lucas Perri, Igor Paixao and Rodrigo Muniz, but the addition of another Brazilian in Carlos seems unlikely.
