Leeds United already preparing new signings as Daniel Farke to address key area

Leeds United News has learned that the club are looking to add new faces to strengthen Daniel Farke’s squad in the January transfer window.

Daniel Farke was left frustrated in the summer transfer window, as Leeds failed to secure the last-minute reinforcements their manager so desperately craved.

Now, those shortcomings are starting to show on the field, as Leeds have the worst big chance conversion rate of any Premier League club.

With a crucial game against West Ham on the horizon, Farke could be without both Willy Gnonto and Noah Okafor, further highlighting their failure to add more numbers in attack.

Leeds will have to wait until January to bolster their paper-thin options in attack. However, according to Leeds United News transfer expert Graeme Bailey, the club already knows how many players they want to bring in to help their Premier League survival bid.

Leeds United are already planning January transfer business

Speaking exclusively to Leeds United News, Bailey gave an insight into Leeds’ plans to bolster their forward line in the January transfer window.

According to Bailey, although Leeds’ current PSR position means they are not planning any record-breaking deals, the club still hopes to bring in reinforcements in January.

Bailey said: “We know there are loan deals. Obviously, Leeds are making sure that when they come knocking on the door that the club or clubs are aware of the situation. I think they are looking to do a couple.

“I’m told they’re looking to do a couple of things. I’m not for one minute saying they’re about to go and break the club record in January.

“We know that’s not going to happen. But I think they would like to bring a couple of fresh faces in if possible, especially in the final third.”

Minutes played by Daniel Farke’s reserve wingers highlight the need to strengthen

Leeds’ starting wingers came in for criticism following the game against Burnley, as Brenden Aaronson missed the game’s best chance, and Jack Harrison also missed a good opportunity.

However, in fairness to Aaronson and Harrison, Farke would not have been expecting to start his fourth and fifth-choice wide players together so early in the season.

Farke’s lack of options in the wide areas, worsened by Leeds’ failed move for Harry Wilson, is highlighted by the number of minutes each of his wingers has played so far this season.

Minutes by Leeds United wingers this season:

According to FBRef, Aaronson has played the most minutes of any Leeds winger, with 462. This is in stark contrast to Gnonto’s 192, eight fewer than Harrison.

Farke would love another winger to pick from ahead of the game against West Ham. Although he will be relieved that Leeds are looking to strengthen in January, he will also be hoping that those reinforcements do not come too late for Leeds’ survival bid.
