Leeds player could be about to secure his friend a move to Elland Road as 49ers like what they see

Leeds United have been linked with a number of new players ahead of the January transfer window and Manor Solomon could be about to play a key role in one potential addition.

Daniel Farke’s squad looks well-balanced at the moment with Ethan Ampadu back from injury. There are a few injuries here and there, like Jayden Bogle and Junior Firpo, but the squad is well-catered in each area.

However, ask Leeds fans and most would probably say they would like a new striker in January. Joel Piroe remains Leeds’ top scorer with seven goals, while Mateo Joseph and Patrick Bamford are also options.

But none have been able to really convince game after game, and score on a regular basis. That is even if Farke thinks Piroe is the best finisher in the Championship, and one striker is being linked with Leeds.

Graeme Bailey delivers update on Leeds move for Dor Turgeman

Earlier this month, reports from Israel said that Leeds had made initial enquiries over a move to sign £4m-rated Dor Turgeman. The 21-year-old has been in excellent form in Israel with Maccabi Tel-Aviv.

A player that has scored nine goals this season, while Turgeman netted 11 of his 21 career goals last term under boss Robbie Keane. Now, Graeme Bailey has given an update to LeedsUnited.news on Turgeman.

Indeed, Bailey says the presence of his National Team captain in Manor Solomon could aid a move for Turgeman with Leeds holding conversations and The 49ers impressed with reports received on the star.

“I’ve heard a little bit about it, they’ve definitely had conversations. He’s been offered in the terms of Leeds have been made aware of him, done their background checks and like what they’ve heard.

“He’s a possibility for January. The relationship has been forged through Manor Solomon. Leeds are in that position where they’re ready to add little bits and pieces but aren’t in dire need of anybody.

“If they manage to get Gelhardt out, then they could bring in someone like him. From what I’m told, he’s got potentially a huge upside. They’re in that position to take a chance on someone,” Bailey told LUN.

Dor Turgeman arrival means Joe Gelhardt will definitely go

Gelhardt is not being considered for minutes at the moment given Leeds have three options up top. That is despite Farke saying Gelhardt has impressed in training – and clubs are considering a swoop for him.

The former Wigan starlet has attracted plenty of interest from the Championship, with Gelhardt himself keen on a move away from Leeds given he has played just three times during the 2024-25 campaign.

It is expected Gelhardt will leave in January regardless of any incoming but if Leeds do pay the required £4m fee to sign Turgeman, then it will almost certainly end Gelhardt’s spell at Leeds United.
