Leeds United are now monitoring a winger Pep Guardiola was interested in signing for Manchester City four years ago, as the Whites edge closer to losing Crysencio Summerville.
Leeds look set to be dealt a big blow on the eve of the new season, with West Ham closing in on signing Summerville. Summerville was the best player in the Championship last term, so he will leave a big void to fill, particularly with the new campaign just around the corner.
The Whites do still have plenty of depth in wide areas, with Daniel James and Wilfried Gnonto still at Elland Road. Meanwhile, Georginio Rutter is capable of playing out wide.
But there is speculation Gnonto could follow Summerville out the door before the deadline, so it seems imperative that Leeds bolster their options in the final third in the coming weeks.
Leeds monitoring Eredivisie winger
And according to a report from Voetbal International, Leeds are one of the teams now interested in signing NEC Nijmegen winger Sontje Hansen, with Birmingham City also admirers of the 22-year-old.
VI reports that Hansen has missed much of pre-season due to a knee injury, but he is back available – and it seems that he could soon get the chance to move away in this window.

Hansen scored six goals and provided six assists in the Eredivisie last season, with the youngster playing the majority of his football from the left wing, but also making a number of appearances on the opposite flank.
Pep Guardiola amongst his reported admirers
It was Hansen’s first season as an established top-flight player, with the wide-man previously making just one league appearance for Ajax’s first-team. He came on for the final 11 minutes as Erik ten Hag’s side beat ADO Den Haag 6-1, with Ryan Gravenberch and Hakim Ziyech amongst the goalscorers.
It was reported by the Guardian the following year that Manchester City were monitoring Hansen, with the attacker winning the golden boot at the Under-17 World Cup in 2019. It was claimed that a deal would cost around £6 million, but it would eventually be a free transfer which took Hansen to NEC.
A move would not come cheap for Leeds this summer, as he has three years remaining on his contract in Netherlands – but clearly, Leeds are about to receive a significant boost to their transfer kitty.
