How Wolves feel about loaning out Hugo Bueno this summer amid interest from Leeds United

Leeds United are interested in signing Wolverhampton Wanderers left-back Huge Bueno this summer.

The Whites are said to be among a host of clubs in the race for Bueno, with Feyenoord and Celtic also keen, and Norwich City having had an offer turned down earlier in the summer.

Daniel Farke is keen to further add to his full-back options before the end of the window despite already spending £5 million to sign Jayden Bogle from Sheffield United.

However, Leeds have lost Archie Gray, Connor Roberts and Jamie Shackleton, leaving Sam Byram as the only form of cover on either flank.

Given Junior Firpo’s injury history during his time at Elland Road, clearly it would be unwise to end August with the 27-year-old as Farke‘s only left-footed full-back.

Wolves stance on Bueno revealed amid Leeds interest

Bueno made 21 appearances in the Premier League for Wolves last season, however only seven of those came from the start.

Rayan Ait-Nouri is very much Gary O’Neil’s first choice at left-back, with the 23-year-old developing into one of the very best in the Premier League last season.

That said, Bueno is now at an age where he needs to go and play regularly for his career, which he may find difficult at Molineux if they keep Ait-Nouri.

Having said that, though, the Athletic have today claimed Wolves do not want to lose Bueno this summer as they view him as an ‘important’ part of their plans going forward.

As such, there is no sign that an exit for Bueno is close to being done, whether that be to Leeds, or any of the other interested clubs who can offer him European football.

If Leeds are to get this done, it would appear they have plenty of work to do, and so hopefully they have other irons in the fire.

Bueno deal is also difficult from Leeds’ perspective

Not only do Wolves seemingly want to keep Bueno, but it is going to take some serious persuasion from Leeds to convince them they are the right club.

Unlike other sides in the division, Leeds are unable to offer an immediate guarantee of game time, with Firpo very much in the way of him becoming first choice.

If Wolves were to let him go, they would have to feel assured they are sending him to a club who can develop him through the offer of regular minutes.

Leeds are likely to find this to be the case in other Premier League loans they have an eye on, with Crystal Palace’s Jesurun Rak-Sakyi and Liverpool’s Bobby Clark on the radar.
