Gus Hamer remains a Sheffield United player ahead of the transfer deadline, despite interest from Leeds United and others in the versatile midfielder.
Even stretching back to last summer, Gus Hamer has been a target for Daniel Farke and the 49ers at Leeds United. Then, going into this summer’s transfer window, Leeds’ links to Hamer were reignited and fuelled by Sheffield United’s Championship play-off final defeat.
Earlier in the summer, it was claimed that Hamer preferred a move to PSV Eindhoven, who are showing a strong interest in the Dutchman. But subsequent reports actually clarified that Hamer would rather secure a Premier League move this summer.
Ruben Selles hasn’t ruled out Hamer leaving the Blades this summer. It was then claimed that Leeds were stepping up efforts to sign Hamer, but nothing has materialised yet.

Gus Hamer’s transfer availability at Sheffield United
At one stage of the window, it looked as though it would be one of Emi Buendia or Hamer for Leeds. However, they are still without the final pieces of the puzzle in terms of the creativity Farke craves.
Hamer is one of four attacking midfielders on Leeds’ final shortlist. That report was weeks ago with no movement — and it then looked like Hamer might stay with Sheffield United or move back to the Netherlands.
Joe Donnohue of FourFourTwo has revealed the latest information on Hamer, which could see him move to the Premier League yet. In a shock twist, he claims that Hamer is available on loan with an obligation to pay deal.
It’s said to be valued at around £15 million-20 million before transfer deadline. He claims that the player is not agitating for a move but open to Premier League switch.
It is understood a number of Premier League clubs have turned down the opportunity to sign Hamer this summer, but a move is still possible.
Numerous Leeds fans want Hamer to sign, which has been their view this summer and in previous windows as well. Hamer can be utilised as a No.10 or in a box-to-box midfield role, while the Blades featured him out wide last term.

Gus Hamer’s English football stats
Hamer has transitioned into being more of an attacking player after his initial seasons as more of a deep-lying playmaker. Leeds would be getting a player who regularly gets goal involvements.
| Season | League | Appearances | Goals | Assists |

During Sheffield United’s Premier League campaign, Hamer was the shining star. The Dutchman is also a set-piece taker, thus could be the player to unlock Leeds’ height and aerial prowess.
