The wait continues for a Leeds United signing on deadline day, and in the January transfer as a whole.
Time is almost up for Leeds United. The January transfer window shuts at 11pm and the Whites are yet to make any new signings in the winter window.
But that’s not for a lack of trying, at least on deadline day. Leeds United want to sign Cameron Archer and appear to be throwing the kitchen sink at that move.
There has been other names linked, though, on what’s been quite an exciting albeit relatively quiet day at Elland Road.

Leeds United move for Adam Armstrong ruled out
One name mentioned alongside Leeds has been Adam Armstrong. The Southampton striker has shot into headlines with rumours that he could be sent to the Championship on loan, with Leeds, Sunderland, and Middlesbrough all mentioned.
But journalist Graham Smyth has ruled out a Leeds move for the 27-year-old. He simply stated that the Whites ‘won’t be signing’ Armstrong as things stand, potentially suggesting that there is underlying interest from Farke’s side.
What Daniel Farke really thinks of Adam Armstrong
It was Armstrong’s goal at Wembley that saw Southampton beat Leeds United in the Championship play-off final in May 2024.
After the game, Farke gave his verdict on Armstrong, saying: “When you look at how young my team is in the offensive positions, and then a player like Armstrong who more or less knows this league. He has one [chance] and was clinical. That was the difference.”
Farke clearly thinks Armstrong is a good striker, and he’s got the track record to prove it too. A move to Leeds after what happened last season would’ve been bizarre but a potentially useful one for the Whites, who still lack a bit of depth in that striker position.
With time left in the window, this move could still come back into headlines.
