Leeds United have been tipped to sign Celtic playmaker David Turnbull ahead of January, and landing the Hoops star would help the club repair the failure of signing his teammate Matt O’Riley.
Leeds tried to land the Dane in the summer, even making a £10m bid for his services. Of course, a bid that was swiftly rejected by the Scottish champions – a decision that has proved to be the right one.
Fabrizio Romano recently said O’Riley would cost a fee north of £25m. So, out of the question. But, the need for a no.10 is still large at Leeds. Joel Piroe is playing in the 10 role, but his form is up and down.
That is why Leeds tried to sign O’Riley. But his form since the summer has seen his price tag sky rocket and there is no chance we can get him in January. His teammate, David Turnbull, is much more gettable.
John Hartson has now told Go Radio that he expects 24-year-old Turnbull to leave Celtic in January to a top-end Championship club, then naming Leeds. A player that has had a hand in 54 goals in 130 games.

Turnbull is a player that is renowned for his long-range shooting. Able to deliver from set-pieces, too. He is often taking corners and free-kicks for the Scottish champions. The 24-year-old’s deal ends in May.
So, the chances are that he will leave Parkhead for free come the summer. But, there might be interest in him next month and he would certainly be a quality signing for any club in the second tier of England.
Indeed, Turnbull has scored seven goals in the Premiership this season. If we have a chance of signing Turnbull in January, then we really should. Glen Kamara was signed from Glasgow and he’s been class.
