Fabrizio Romano has shared the latest on what he’s heard about the future of Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville.

Summerville will be preparing for Leeds‘ upcoming Championship play-off final with Southampton but has already been heavily linked with the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool ahead of the summer.

The 22-year-old has won a number of admirers from some of Europe’s elite clubs as a result of his performances across the 2023/24 seasons.

Having scored 21 goals and provided 10 assists across all competitions, Summerville was crowned the Championship’s POTS last month ahead of both Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Sammie Szmodics.

Summerville now has two years left to run on his contract at Elland Road and so this summer is looking pivotal to deciding his long-term future.

Romano shares update on Summerville’s future at Leeds

Summerville certainly bucked a trend last summer by not kicking up a fuss and forcing through an exit, as he saw many of his teammates move on in the wake of relegation.

If Leeds were to lose to Southampton, therefore, no one could begrudge him of a move back to the Premier League and it has already been claimed he is the most likely to be sold if that happens.

Leeds are expected to demand in excess of £30 million for Summerville, though if they do go up, it would put them in a better position to keep him and even potentially offer him a new deal.

However, transfer expert Romano has shared a new update on the state of play with Summerville to Caught Offside, suggesting that big clubs are expected to test both his and Leeds’ resolve.

He said: “Staying with Chelsea, they’re one of the names being linked with Leeds United’s talented young winger Crysencio Summerville. The race is open, but with nothing close or imminent right now.

“There are really many clubs tracking him – I already reported about Liverpool last month, and for sure, Summerville is expected to get a top club chance in the summer, but again, nothing is close now.”

What is Summerville’s stance on a Leeds exit?

Summerville is not expected to force through a move this summer, irrespective of the outcome of Sunday’s play-off final, as per Team Talk.

It is said Summerville does not want to damage the relationship he has built with the supporters and club this season.

With that said, 49ers Enterprises have already acknowledged key player sales will be needed this summer if Leeds remain in the Championship, and there won’t be many with a higher value than him.

Hopefully Leeds can get the job done this weekend so Summerville can continue his development as a key player at Elland Road, but now in the Premier League.
