Don Goodman doesn’t think Leeds United are the right club for 49ers target Jack Rudoni

It emerged earlier this week that Coventry City star Jack Rudoni is on Leeds United’s radar this summer as The Whites look to build a squad capable of survival – and Don Goodman has had his say.

Frank Lampard replaced Mark Robins as manager at Coventry and took the Sky Blues on an incredible run that saw them finish in the play-off positions, only to lose to winners Sunderland in the final seconds.

Inevitably, when a team plays so well without winning promotion, interest arrives. Leeds are in need of a playmaker given Brenden Aaronson’s indifferent form during the second half of the 2024-25 campaign.

Graeme Bailey has told LeedsUnited.News that Leeds like the look of Rudoni, after 23 goals and assists for Coventry. Frank Lampard has described Rudoni as an “absolute dream” to work with since joining.

Why Goodman is concerned about Rudoni moving to Leeds

It is unclear how much Coventry would charge for Rudoni, but it is not as if the Sky Blues are desperate for cash. They are expected to go again in the transfer market and back Lampard in the summer window.

Speaking to Football League World, Don Goodman delivered his verdict on reports that Leeds are looking at Rudoni. He questioned whether a move to Elland Road is right for Rudoni, questioning his game time.

“Coventry will be really positive in the summer and Jack Rudoni is playing for his boyhood hero under Frank Lampard. Coventry will show ambition to be at the very top of the Championship next season.

“If he goes to Leeds, will he get the game time? You obviously have to back yourself and have confidence. I’m sure he would do that. I can understand temptation, but I’d be thinking very carefully about it.”

What Jack Rudoni thinks about a move to Leeds this summer

This is a midfielder in the form of his life, getting better with every season and now working under one of England’s finest-ever goalscoring midfielders – regardless what we Leeds fans think of Coventry’s boss.

So, it might be best if Rudoni does end up staying put even just for another season. Reports say Rudoni does have ambitions of playing in the Premier League, but is very happy at Coventry at the moment.

Given he was bought for £5m from Huddersfield in the summer of 2024, the chances are that Rudoni is already worth triple that figure or even more, given his stunning 2024-25 campaign with Coventry.
