Leeds United could soon have signing number five through the doors at Elland Road, after a rumoured €20million bid was placed for an exciting young attacker.

Leeds United fans are waiting patiently for the club to make some more new signings, adding to the four that have already arrived at Elland Road so far this summer.

Gabriel Gudmundsson’s move to Leeds was confirmed last week, marking the fourth summer signing for Daniel Farke, whose side have reportedly splashed out £10million to sign the left-back from Lille.

With three defenders making up four of the summer signings, expect attention to swiftly turn to midfield, attack, and in goal, with some problem positions still evident in the XI as things stand.

There have been a number of players linked with a move to Leeds United this summer. But one who has been linked throughout, and whose links persist, is Semih Kilicsoy.

Leeds United have tabled bid for Semih Kilicsoy at Besiktas

There’s been a lot of back and forth with Kilicsoy this summer. There have also been teams in and out of the race to sign him with most recent reports revealing how Aston Villa were looking to sign Kilicsoy ahead of Leeds. But the latest news coming out of Turkey favours the Whites.

Aksam report that Leeds United have ‘offered €20million’ (£17.37million) for Kilicsoy and that Leeds ‘will soon be negotiating with Besiktas’ and that Kilicsoy ‘is expected to make his decision soon’.

And despite previously strong interest from FC Utrecht in Kilicsoy, Aksam add that Besiktas are ‘open to the offer’ from Leeds and that both Kilicsoy and Besiktas ‘prefer Leeds United’ in this particular transfer race.

Semih Kilicsoy move has been months in the making, but have Leeds United been done over?

At the start of the summer it was being reported that Besiktas wanted to send Kilicsoy out on loan, and that Leeds could’ve signed him on loan with an option to buy worth much less than this apparent £17.37million fee.

Reports valued Kilicsoy at just £8.5million, so this new fee of £17.37million fee, and for a permanent deal right away, seems like a bit of a risk for Leeds United.

Last season Kilicsoy, who’s just 19 years old, scored three in 32 league matches for Besiktas, compared to 11 in 23 the season before.

Still so young and with good experience, being a Turkish international too, it’s easy to see why Kilicsoy has been linked with several clubs around Europe, and when we put it like that, £17million for such a player seems like a good deal.

But it boils down to whether or not he can help Leeds United in the Premier League next season, as beating the drop should be the club’s first and foremost priority.
