Bayern Munich and PSG are now plotting to ruin Leeds United’s £40m plans

If Leeds United are to make some signings in the January window, the chances are the player in question will be an attacking one. The latest player to be linked with Leeds is certainly that.

Leeds fans are well-versed in the saga of deadline day. Leeds thought they had Facundo Buonanotte in on loan from Brighton, but he did what Igor Paixao had done, and chose Chelsea at the eleventh hour.

Then there was Harry Wilson. Robbie Evans said he wanted to join Leeds, but Fulham kept him and the Wales ace remains out of contract come next summer, all because Fulham couldn’t get Tyrique George.

Leeds only managed to bring in Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Noah Okafor and Lukas Nmecha. The trio have managed five of Leeds’ nine Premier League goals between them, but plenty more is needed in January.

Numerous players have been linked with Leeds already. Serie A duo Piotr Zielinski and Lorenzo Pellegrini are among a plethora of attacking names on the Elland Road radar, as is FC Midtjylland’s top scorer.

Bayern and PSG join Leeds in race to sign £40m Franculino

Guinea-Bissau star Franculino has been starring in Danish football ever since joining Superliga giants Midtjylland as an 18-year-old in the summer of 2023. But this season, his form has gone to a new level.

A total of 19 goals this season already, in just 26 games. Still 21, Franculino is scoring goals for fun in Denmark and the Europa League and of course, that has caught the attention of those in the top five.

LeedsUnited.News was first to report interest from Elland Road in the Midtjylland star, though a January move to land the striker would cost £40m. Midtjylland want premium price for their wonderkid in January.

Now, they might get it. There is no chance Leeds can manage a club-record fee in January, but Africa Foot say Bayern Munich and PSG are among the clubs interested in Franculino, making £40m more realistic.

The report also says Leeds’ relegation rivals West Ham, Italian side Bologna and David Moyes’ Everton are showing interest in Franculino, who has a contract with Midtjylland until the summer of 2029.

Who else have Leeds been linked with signing ahead of January?

With a move for Franculino seeming more and more unlikely, given Franculino’s price tag and now the interest of two of Europe’s heavyweights, Leeds will have to look elsewhere for January additions.

In the summer, Leeds chose not to spend £25m on Irish hero Troy Parrott. Yet, during Ireland’s 2-0 win over Portugal last week, Leeds scouts watched the former Tottenham striker. Interest clearly remains.

Then there is Coventry City’s Haji Wright, who continues to thrive in Frank Lampard’s all-conquering side. Bodo/Glimt’s Jens Petter Hauge could also be targeted by Leeds going into the January transfer window.
