AS Roma and Al-Hilal are pushing hard to complete the signing of West Ham United winger Crysencio Summerville, with former Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani giving his glowing seal of approval to the prospective move.
Following West Ham’s relegation from the Premier League, Roma have stepped up negotiations by submitting a third formal bid worth £40million plus add-ons, according to Fabrizio Romano.
In a late twist, Al-Hilal are growing in confidence over signing the attacker after making a huge proposal to both the player and the Irons, as per Romano.
Update: At 4:50pm on Tuesday, David Ornstein revealed that Al-Hilal have agreed a £68m deal for the winger.
Meanwhile, former Elland Road chief Radrizzani spoke to Italian radio channel Retesport 104.2FM to reflect on Summerville’s rise and endorse a mega transfer.

Radrizzani, who brought Summerville to English football from Feyenoord during his tenure at Elland Road, expressed immense pride in the 24-year-old’s development.
He said: “We discovered Summerville and brought him to England from the Netherlands. He’s a fantastic guy, totally focused on football, with strong core values.
“He has grown tremendously, and if Roma sign him, it would be a major coup.”
The Italian entrepreneur also recalled early conversations when the young Dutchman struggled to break into the first team at Elland Road:
“In his first year, he struggled to establish himself and wanted to leave. I convinced him to stay and promised him an easy exit route if he hadn’t made his mark by autumn.
“Then in November, he started against Liverpool and scored.”
Radrizzani believes Summerville’s combination of physical power and technical skills makes him an ideal fit for Roma, adding:
“Summerville was one of the few who tried to save West Ham; he would be perfect for Gian Piero Gasperini’s style of football.
“The price? If he had scored a few more goals, they would be asking for €70–80m (£60-68m).”

With Al-Hilal agreeing a £68m deal for Summerville, Leeds United supporters may be wondering whether Elland Road will benefit financially from the blockbuster transfer.
The short answer is no.
When West Ham signed Summerville from Leeds in the summer of 2024, the agreement was structured as an initial £25m fee alongside £9m in structured add-ons.
That extra £9m was split into two performance brackets:
- £5m in performance bonuses: Tied to his appearances and goal contributions in East London.
- £4m in international caps: Dependent on earning a senior international debut for the Netherlands, which Summerville achieved this year.
While Leeds United may have successfully collected the full £34m package by now, there is no evidence of a sell-on clause being inserted into the deal when he moved to West Ham.
As a result, West Ham will pocket the entirety of the transfer outlay, leaving Daniel Farke‘s side with no additional windfall despite their former player making another major career move.
