Leeds have confirmed Daniel Farke will be holding his pre-match press conference on Thursday as usual.
The majority of fans have turned on Farke amid a run of six defeats in the last seven Premier League outings, and were keeping a keen eye on whether his presser would go ahead on Thursday as an indicator of a potential dismissal.
The pressure is mounting on Daniel Farke… should Leeds United sack him?⌛
As detailed by Adam Pope and Beren Cross, Leeds have confirmed Daniel Farke will speak to the press as usual, but Leeds fans hoping to see the German sacked can still carry some hope after what happened to Graham Potter.
Graham Potter’s September dismissal offers Leeds United fans hope despite press conference confirmation
Back in September, the Englishman was sacked by West Ham after losing four of the opening five Premier League games.
A 2-1 defeat against Crystal Palace was his final match in charge, but West Ham fans were dismayed to see Potter hold his press conference as usual ahead of the next game, a trip to Everton.
It provided a strong indicator that David Sullivan was keeping faith with the 50-year-old, but supporters were quickly elated when the man born in Solihull was sacked just hours after that press conference.
A source told Hammers News at the time that “the board felt Potter had inflamed an already volatile situation with his latest comments, especially as it broke from his insistence on unity and alignment across the club” – Nuno Espirito Santo was swiftly hired as a replacement.
Daniel Farke is statistically Leeds’ worst Premier League manager 📉
It suggests Leeds could still pull the trigger if Farke speaks out of line in his own press conference on Thursday, so he must be on his best behaviour to avoid exacerbating the situation.
Daniel Farke is unlikely to criticise The 49ers but he must respect Leeds United fans
The 49-year-old rarely mentions his employers in a negative manner, but he has made some questionable comments about Leeds fans of late.
Farke accused Leeds fans of being fickle and thinking survival was secured after the 2-1 win over West Ham, saying: “After we beat West Ham, people said survival was confirmed and now everyone is panicking about relegation.”
The 49ers are spoilt for choice… but who would you pick as Leeds United’s next manager?
The German also said Leeds have an “emotional” fanbase, and the tide is starting to turn with supporters aiming chants of “you don’t know what you’re doing” at Farke after the 2-1 loss against Aston Villa.
With the relationship between manager and fans becoming fractured, Farke needs to choose his words carefully on Thursday.
