Three Leeds United transfers which could be about to take place on deadline day

Leeds United have just until 11pm tonight to complete any remaining transfer business.

The Whites are yet to make a single signing so far in the January window but still have a couple of positions which require strengthening ahead of the deadline this evening.

Daniel Farke shared yesterday that Leeds have come close to signing a couple of players, while also confirming that no one else from the first team squad will be heading out of the exit door.

Having lost Djed Spence and Luke Ayling, defence is very much the priority for Leeds today and there are a number of names who have been linked with moves to Elland Road.

So, with that in mind, we have taken a look at three possible transfers which could take place at Leeds today.

Ben Godfrey

After seeing an initial loan offer knocked back, Leeds are said to have made a second offer for Everton’s Godfrey earlier this week, but at this stage it is unclear whether any progress has been made.

Godfrey played 90 minutes for Everton in Tuesday night’s draw at Fulham but that was just his second Premier League start of the season, with manager Sean Dyche already having admitted he has grown frustrated at his lack of game time.

The 26-year-old has worked under Farke before and it would appear the Leeds boss is the driving force behind the interest, so hopefully this is one that gets done.

Connor Roberts

Burnley’s Roberts is a player that was mentioned as a potential target almost instantly after Spence was sent back to Tottenham early in his loan spell.

The 28-year-old has not started in the Premier League since October and would reportedly be open to a move to Leeds, to link up with three of his Wales international teammates.

Journalist Ben Jacobs says there is a realistic chance this is one that gets done before tonight’s deadline, so let’s wait and see.

Charlie Taylor

Due to exits elsewhere and the form of Junior Firpo, left-back has not really been mentioned much this month, but Leeds do still hold an interest in Taylor, who is out of contract at Burnley in the summer.

However, if Leeds fail to land a right-back, a new left-back would make sense as it would then allow Sam Byram to provide cover on the other side, his more natural position.

As per journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Burnley are trying to sign Fenerbahce left-back Jayden Oosterwolde and so perhaps if that gets done, it could then allow Taylor to re-join Leeds.
