Leeds United’s summer transfer window was hit and miss. But there was no end of players linked.
Leeds United saw new links to new potential signings almost every day. In the end, though, Leeds United signed 10 new players, and many fans don’t think that’s enough.
After Leeds United’s deadline day fiasco, there are huge doubts over whether or not Daniel Farke has enough firepower to keep Leeds in the Premier League this season.
January might not come quick enough for the Whites who sit in 12th place of the Premier League table right now, though have only scored once in their opening three league matches.
Here we look at three of the craziest transfer rumours from the summer at Elland Road, that didn’t eventually materialise…

Douglas Luiz
Former Aston Villa man Douglas Luiz has returned to the Premier League after one disastrous season at Juventus. The Brazilian international has joined Nottingham Forest, but for a while he was being quite strongly linked with a move to Leeds United.
Earlier in the window, it was reported that Leeds United were offered the chance to sign Luiz. But eventually, it was revealed that Luiz did not want to join Leeds United in any kind of loan or permanent transfer.
Farke still bolstered his central midfield options well, though, with the signings of Anton Stach and Sean Longstaff.
Gabriel Sara
Another central midfielder linked with a move to West Yorkshire was former Norwich City man Gabriel Sara, who currently plays for Galatasaray.
Another Brazilian, Sara enjoyed a superb 2024/25 season with two goals and eight assists in 31 Super Lig matches, before then being linked with some of the top teams in Europe this summer, including Man City.
And Leeds United also took an interest in Sara, albeit an ambitious and seemingly fleeting one. But it was an exciting link while it lasted and if Leeds had pulled off a deal for Sara, it would’ve been a big one for the Whites.

Rodrigo Muniz
Soon after sealing promotion, Rodrigo Muniz‘s links to Leeds United emerged. They were ambitious from the off and it looked unlikely throughout the summer, with Fulham putting an incredible £50million price tag on Muniz.
Leeds never looked likely to fork out that much. But they did submit bids to sign the forward and it was also revealed that Muniz was Leeds United’s no.1 striker target, though it was Dominic Calvert-Lewin who eventually arrived as something of an anti-climax.
Muniz will have a chance to show Farke what he’s missed out on when Leeds play Fulham next weekend.
