Sebastiaan Bornauw must be wondering why Leeds even bothered to sign him.
The Belgian has not played a single second of Premier League football under Daniel Farke so far this season following a £5.1m move from Wolfsburg in July, with only one appearance to his name – which came in the Carabao Cup defeat at Sheffield Wednesday.
Sebastiaan Bornauw is clearly seen as the weakest of all the central defenders at Elland Road as Joe Rodon, Pascal Struijk and Jaka Bijol feature more regularly – and the Belgium international is surely now even more annoyed at his situation as Leeds target Chibuike Nwaiwu.
Leeds United want another defender in Chibuike Nwaiwu despite Sebastiaan Bornauw snubs
Top Mercato now state that Leeds are keeping a close eye on Chibuike Nwaiwu as he impresses at Wolfsberger.
This is difficult: Who is Leeds United’s best signing so far? 🤑
Explain why!
The French news outlet add that Lens, Lille, Marseille, Strasbourg and PSG have all been in touch with the Austrian side to ask about the Nigerian.
Leeds have not gone that far, as Top Mercato say the Whites and Bayer Leverkusen are merely monitoring the situation right now.
However, the fact Leeds are even considering a deal for another defender while Bornauw rots away on the sidelines will be sure to irk the 26-year-old, who must be wondering when his chance to shine in Yorkshire will actually come.

A story from the Guardian adds that Leeds do not consider Bornauw a successful signing at this moment in time, so it is hard not to feel sorry for the man born in Wemmel – who still has a contract which runs until July 2029.
Chibuike Nwaiwu is not the only defender Leeds United are monitoring
It is unclear how Bornauw has performed in training, but he must be lacking something as Leeds consider not one defensive addition, but two.
Who do you want Leeds to sign in January? A striker surely has to be the priority!
On the Minute recently revealed that Leeds are also scouting Tylel Tati of Nantes, who plays at centre-back.
Farke wouldn’t need another defender if he was happy with Bornauw, so the fact two names have now emerged as targets strongly suggests Leeds may look to sell the Belgian – barring any serious injuries to Rodon, Struijk or Bijol.
