Lukas Nmecha has enjoyed a strong start to his career at Leeds.
Signed on a free transfer back in June after his contract at Wolfsburg expired, the German has scored four goals in 13 Premier League appearances so far – with three coming in his last three games.
While many Leeds fans would therefore consider Lukas Nmecha to be a successful signing – especially seeing as he cost nothing – insiders at Elland Road seem to disagree.
Leeds United only deem Sean Longstaff and Gabriel Gudmundsson as successful additions
The Guardian revealed on Monday that Daniel Farke is likely to be sacked if Leeds lose to Chelsea and Liverpool this week.
However, at the bottom of the story, there was one paragraph discussing recruitment over the summer, where it was claimed that only the signings of Sean Longstaff and Gabriel Gudmundsson are considered successful signings internally at Elland Road.
This is difficult: Who is Leeds United’s best signing so far? 🤑
Explain why!
The latter was a £10m arrival from Lille and has impressed at left-back.
Regarding Longstaff, he was a £15m signing from Newcastle, and has stood out in midfield.
Nobody is disagreeing with the fact they have been positive additions, but with four goals in 13 games while largely feeding off scraps, Nmecha will feel hard done by to not be named alongside the Swede and the Englishman by Leeds insiders.
Recruitment verdict is a damning indictment on Leeds United regardless
Even if Nmecha – who Pep Guardiola admires – had snuck his way onto the list alongside Longstaff and Gudmundsson, it is still not good enough.

Leeds signed ten players across the summer, so it reflects very badly on Adam Underwood and Robbie Evans that only two are considered to be successes internally as we enter December.
There is still plenty of time remaining in the season for the likes of Lucas Perri and Noah Okafor to turn the situation around and prove themselves, but at the minute, it very much feels like Leeds wasted millions on average players.
