Ranking all eight of Leeds United’s summer signings with £4.6m addition a potential bargain

Leeds United completed the signings of eight new players this summer, with two coming in at Elland Road on the final day and a total of four in the last fortnight.

After the sales of Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter, Daniel Farke made it clear he wanted four signings in the last few days and in came Largie Ramazani, Manor Solomon, Ao Tanaka and Isaac Schmidt.

It comes after Leeds brought in Joe Rodon permanently, Alex Cairns, Joe Rothwell and Jayden Bogle in the first few weeks of the window. Below, we rank the signings on value for money and quality of player.

8. Jayden Bogle (£5m, Sheffield United)

Perhaps harsh, but Bogle has been poor in his first four league games. Neil Redfearn said Bogle has been “hit and miss” after beating Hull, after conceding a penalty at Portsmouth and proven defensively dodgy.

7. Alex Cairns (Nominal fee, Salford City)

While a third-choice goalkeeper was required after Kristoffer Klaesson’s exit, he was bought on the cheap and acts as a homegrown player, Cairns has already said he is unlikely to actually play for Leeds this term.

6. Joe Rothwell (Loan, Bournemouth)

The 29-year-old has been brought in as cover in the middle of the park. He looks technically tidy but with Ao Tanaka now signed, it can be imagined that Rothwell might end up struggling for Leeds game time.

5. Largie Ramazani (£10m, Almeria)

Ramazani looks a real gem. Farke doesn’t want him judged as a replacement for Summerville, but he could well live up to that. He is though, costly at £10m having not played a single game in England.

4. Isaac Schmidt (£4.6m, St. Gallen)

The left-footed right-back offers versatility, attacking prowess and for an initial £2.5m he is cheap though it could rise to £4.6m for Schmidt. Yet to make his debut, but the 24-year-old looks an exciting prospect.

3. Ao Tanaka (£3.4m, Dusseldorf)

To get a midfielder that has scored a winner against Spain in the World Cup, a goal against Germany and has 27 caps for Japan at £3.4m is wonderful. Tanaka has even been compared to Jude Bellingham.

2. Manor Solomon (loan, Tottenham)

Solomon showed he is a level above the Championship on Saturday. Despite it being his first game since injury in September 2023, it was his magic that unlocked the Hull door. A player too good for this level.

1. Joe Rodon (£10m, Tottenham)

To get Rodon amid all of the Premier League interest in the Welshman is truly wonderful business. £10m is a solid price given his Leeds form last term, and that was taken out of the £40m for Gray. Top signing.
