Striker signings could be the main aim for Daniel Farke in the summer, especially if his Leeds United side are promoted.
Leeds United are relying quite heavily no the likes of Joel Piroe not picking up an injury, with only Mateo Joseph and the currently injured Patrick Bamford to call upon should Piroe be unavailable.
But the going is good at Elland Road right now. On Monday night, Leeds United beat Sunderland 2-1 to return themselves to the top of the Championship table, and to maintain what is now a 15-game unbeaten run ahead of their Monday night showdown with 2nd place Sheffield United.
A win at Bramall Lane would be huge in the race for promotion, and it could give the 49ers and indeed Daniel Farke reason to look towards the summer transfer window, and towards adding Premier League quality to the ranks ahead of 2025/26.
Several names are currently being linked with summer moves to West Yorkshire. It’s claimed that Leeds want a summer deal for Emi Buendia and also Cameron Archer, who both boast Premier League level talent. Also Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson.

Callum Wilson poised to leave Newcastle United amid Leeds United links
Since the end of the January transfer window, Newcastle striker Wilson has emerged as a target for Leeds United ahead of the summer. The 32-year-old sees his Newcastle contract expire in the summer and that’ll no doubt put a number of teams on alert.
And speaking to Geordie Boot Boys, transfer expert Graeme Bailey has revealed how Wilson would prefer to stay in England ahead of next season, in what’s no doubt a boost to Leeds in their hopes of signing the nine-time England international.
Bailey explained: “Obviously teams are assessing him ahead of the summer. We know he is probably going to leave Newcastle. There is not 100% confirmation of that just yet, but I do not think anyone is expecting him to stay – even himself. They are ready to move on.
“My understanding is that he would like to stay in England. There is interest from the Saudi Pro League and the MLS, but he is quite keen to stay in England as it stands.
“There will be clubs that want a bit of experience, so he ticks that box. Obviously his injury situation does not help, but we will see what comes up for him. He may even change his mind on going abroad nearer the time.”

Signing Callum Wilson could be an expensive mistake for Leeds United
There’s no doubting Wilson’s Premier League pedigree, with 88 goals in 226 top flight games in his career, including 67 in 187 total games for the Magpies.
This season though, Wilson has failed to score in his five Premier League appearances as injuries have once again taken over his campaign.
Per Salary Sport, Wilson earns £110,000-a-week at St James’ Park. That same wage would make him by the far highest-paid player at Leeds should he join in the summer, and with interest from Saudi Arabia, Wilson might not be so quick to take a pay cut simply to stay in England.
New strikers would certainly be needed at Leeds United in the summer. But such an expensive and injury-prone one in Wilson could prove bad business from the 49ers who need to be targeting younger signings, who could have future value for the club too.
