Premier League decision could now be the final nail in the coffin for Daniel Farke at Leeds United

Daniel Farke finds himself in the midst of a potentially decisive week at Leeds.

The Guardian believe the 49ers could sack Farke if Leeds lose to both Chelsea and Liverpool at Elland Road this week. If that does happen, it would signal eight defeats in the last nine Premier League games.

The pressure is therefore on Daniel Farke to deliver against two of the biggest clubs in England, but the Premier League have done him no favours at all with their timings for the games.

Daniel Farke will be irritated by scheduling decision which makes his life harder at Leeds United

Leeds face Chelsea at 8:15pm on Wednesday night. Considering there was a round of Premier League fixtures on Tuesday night as well, it would normally be typical for Leeds to be given a Sunday slot for the next match against Liverpool.

However, the Premier League have still pencilled Leeds – who could hire Zsolt Low – in to play on Saturday rather than Sunday, giving the Whites less time to recover for a game which Farke could well need to win to save his job.

That is because Liverpool face Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, with organisers feeling it would be too short a turnaround for the Reds to play a Premier League match on Sunday and then travel to Italy.

Five members of the current Leeds United squad started in the last win over Chelsea in 2022, can you name them? 🤔

It means Farke has been left in a position where he now only has Thursday and Friday to prepare his squad for the champions visiting Elland Road, making life all the more difficult for the 49-year-old.

Why does Leeds United vs Chelsea kick off at 8:15pm?

With four other Premier League games kicking off at 7:30pm on Wednesday night, many have wondered why Leeds vs Chelsea begins at 8:15pm instead.

The decision was made by Sky Sports – who have full control over midweek fixtures, and opted to stagger the timings to ensure they can get as many viewers as possible tuned in to each game.
