Leeds United are frantically trying to get new signings through the door and according to the latest reports, a second bid for Gustavo Hamer has just been rejected by Sheffield United.
Leeds are set to complete the signing of Japan star Ao Tanaka from Dusseldorf to ease the lack of depth in midfield. But, Hamer is the club’s no.1 target after bidding £13m over the weekend for the Blades ace.
That was rejected, with Sheffield United requesting a fee of £18m for the Brazil-born star. A player that has had a hand in 44 goals in 126 Championship appearances for both Sheffield United and Coventry.
Now, Leeds have gone back in for Hamer. But not simply by upping the fee on the table for the player, but by including a current Leeds star still key to Daniel Farke’s plans, and again it has been rejected.

Joel Piroe will surely want Leeds exit after latest 49ers decision
Signed last summer for a fee of £16m, Piroe was seen as a real coup by Leeds fans. He scored 44 goals in two seasons at Swansea but a year on, Piroe has only managed 13 goals for Leeds in his first campaign.
According to reports, Leeds have bizarrely offered Sheffield United the signing of the Piroe and a cash sum. But it has been rejected with Chris Wilder not convinced “phenomenal” Piroe adds to his Blades side.
It means Leeds must go back in for Hamer with a new bid, perhaps a big cash offer or a different player. What it does do, is that Piroe has been left in the lurch with the player likely to question if he’s needed.

Piroe is struggling to get a game at Leeds right now
It’s not as if the Dutch ace was making waves at Leeds, a first name on the team sheet. He earned plenty of criticism from Leeds fans for his display in the 10 role at West Brom, even though not his natural role.
But he finds himself behind Mateo Joseph in the pecking order and perhaps, even further down than Patrick Bamford with Joe Gelhardt propping up the rear. So, he is already a bit of a fringe player at Leeds.
Combine that with The 49ers seemingly willing to lose him to sign Hamer, not only disrespects Piroe but it will make him feel unwanted. If the reports are true, surely he will want an exit before 11pm on Friday.
