Leeds United have developed a bit of momentum in the transfer market after last week’s arrival of Sebastiaan Bornauw, with the club closing in on the addition of Gabriel Gudmundsson.
The signing of Sweden international Gudmundsson could be announced early this week. Gudmundsson travelled to Leeds on Sunday, with Leeds set to pay a fee of £8.6m ahead of Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce.
He’s not the only player that Leeds are currently in talks to sign at the moment, according to the latest reports. But it seems that Gudmundsson will be the club’s fourth signing of the summer transfer window.
Things are certainly starting to feel real now with the Leeds players returning for pre-season on Monday, 12 days prior to a friendly against Manchester United at the Strawberry Arena in Stockholm, Sweden.

Leeds United could be about to spend £44.6m on three players
Over the last few days and aside from Gudmundsson, Leeds have been strongly linked with Hoffenheim and Germany star Anton Stach. The 6ft 4in star is in the final year of his contract with the Bundesliga side.
Stach is ‘considering’ a move to Leeds, with a fee of £17m potentially required to sign Stach. On Sunday, Gianluca Di Marzio said Leeds had opened talks for Torino’s 6ft 8in goalkeeper Vanka Milinkovic-Savic.

Milinkovic-Savic boasts a £19m release clause for overseas clubs. If Leeds pay £19m for Milinkovic-Savic, £17m for Stach and £8.6m for Gudmundsson, Leeds could shell out a combined £44.6m on the trio.
Leeds’ best XI with Gudmundsson, Stach and Milinkovic-Savic
Of the three signings confirmed, only one is actually expected to start for Leeds as things stand. Jaka Bijol is set to come in alongside Joe Rodon, having captained Udinese and cost Leeds a fee of around £15m.

He comes in for Pascal Struijk, while Sebastiaan Bornauw and Lukas Nmecha are only expected to provide cover at Elland Road. However, Gudmundsson, Stach and Milinkovic-Savic would all start for Daniel Farke.
Milinkovic-Savic and Gudmundsson slot in easily, with the latter in for Junior Firpo and Milinkovic-Savic a level above Karl Darlow and Illan Meslier. Stach starts, but it sees more of a defensive shape in midfield.

Indeed, Stach would come in for Brenden Aaronson and Leeds may be better operating with a 4-3-3 system in order to pack the midfield, rather than playing with the luxury of a no.10 in the American star.
Above then, is Leeds’ best XI if Underwood and the Leeds transfer team manage to pull off the trio of deals for Gudmundsson, Stach and Milinkovic-Savic which according to reports, would cost around £45m.
