Leeds United will be concerned by Gary Neville’s verdict on Wolves’ “cut-throat” decision to part company with head coach Vitor Pereira.
Vitor Pereira has left his position as Wolves head coach after guiding his side through a winless start to the Premier League season, with just two points from their opening 10 games.
Leeds’ only away win of the season to date came at Molineux as Dominic Calvert-Lewin opened his account in a 3-1 victory.
Now, Daniel Farke will be nervously looking over his shoulder as his side hover above the relegation zone in 16th place, after their demoralising 3-0 defeat against Brighton.
As Leeds turn their attentions to a crucial trip to face relegation rivals Nottingham Forest, Neville’s words on Pereira’s departure can also be interpreted as a prophetic warning for Leeds if results do not improve.

Why Leeds United will be concerned by Gary Neville’s verdict
Speaking on NBC Sports, Neville delivered his assessment on Wolves’ decision to dismiss their manager, just weeks after handing him a new contract.
According to Neville, the loss in revenue caused by being relegated from the Premier League means that Wolves had few options available to them. But, ultimately, Pereira’s inability to turn his side around cost him his job, despite him still being a good coach and a good person.
Neville said: “I think he’s a good manager, but you see that the points are poor, the goal difference is shocking, not had a win this season.
“The one thing I would say is if you look at last season, you mentioned there about the new contract, they wouldn’t have wanted to have done this because he had a fantastic record, 22 matches, 10 wins for a club like Wolves, who are year-in, year-out, down near the bottom of the table. That’s a very, very good record, and all of a sudden, he’s had a pre-season with them, and it’s completely flipped.
“He just can’t get a point, he can’t get a win, and nothing’s happening, and now, because of that £100 million that you lose now, teams, clubs, owners, don’t wait. It’s a cutthroat business.”
With ambitious plans to redevelop Elland Road and having invested heavily in the playing squad this summer, the 49ers may be backed into a similar position if Farke cannot deliver a better result against Forest.

Wolves’ decision means all three Premier League strugglers have changed managers
Daniel Farke could be forgiven for feeling like he is King Canute holding back the rising tide, as he looks to guide Leeds to Premier League safety.
However, as things stand, he is at risk of being submerged as Leeds’ Premier League rivals take drastic action in their survival bids.
Premier League Managerial Sackings so far – 2025/26
- Nottingham Forest – Nuno Espirito Santo
- West Ham United – Graham Potter
- Nottingham Forest – Ange Postecoglou
- Wolves – Vitor Pereira
Following Wolves’ decision to part company with Pereira, all three of the current Premier League bottom three have changed managers, with Nottingham Forest having done so twice.
Farke has the luxury of an eight-point cushion between him and 18th place as things stand. However, if he fails to deliver a result against Forest, the Leeds manager could soon come under pressure.
