Leeds United player with 14 consecutive starts should be dropped vs Luton so ‘phenomenal’ star can return

Daniel Farke certainly has some big decisions to make regarding his team selection for Leeds United’s clash against Luton Town.

Farke is only three players away from a fully fit squad and is having to navigate his way through a week where Leeds are playing three times in just six days.

After a bit of a dry spell, a number of Farke’s attackers seem to have hit form simultaneously following Sunday’s last-gasp 4-3 victory over Swansea City.

With Farke surprisingly deciding to keep faith in Manor Solomon, the Leeds boss’ gamble was rewarded as the Israel international scored his first two goals for the club.

Dan James also pick up a hattrick of assists against his former side, while Wilfried Gnonto came off the bench to score his first goal in nine matches.

Daniel Farke should make Brenden Aaronson call in Leeds vs Luton

With three of Leeds’ wingers making significant contributions to the win over Swansea, and Largie Ramazani also back from injury, Farke faces a tough call on who to leave on the bench.

In order to make his decision easier, Farke should actually consider a little tactical reshuffle in the three behind the striker by dropping Brenden Aaronson.

Aaronson has started Leeds’ last 14 league matches and has been good in the main, but was quiet against Swansea and could be in need of a rest.

Leeds don’t really have a natural number 10 in reserve but the ‘phenomenal‘ Gnonto has played there before for both club and country and looked more than comfortable.

In fact, when he was given license to drift centrally in the win at Sheffield Wednesday back in August, Owls boss Danny Rohl hailed Gnonto as ‘unbelievable‘.

As such, by bringing Gnonto into the number 10 role, it would allow both Solomon and James to keep their places in the starting XI and continue the momentum they built at Swansea.

Farke has already suggested Leeds could make changes

Farke isn’t usually one to make too many changes between matches but the nature of three games in six days, two of which are away from home, could force his hand.

Thankfully, Leeds don’t appear to have any new injuries after the win over Swansea, but Farke did hint that some changes could be made.

He said: “It seems like there are no new injuries. Obviously after a game like always, a few knocks and hits, but no new injuries. All the players who are with us seem to be also available for Wednesday.

“For that obviously quick turnaround, also the weekend, three games in six days, as I mentioned before, during such a week sometimes you have to rotate a bit more than you perhaps normally do, so there could also be a few changes.”
