Leeds United have money in the bank after their big summer sales last year. This next summer, there’s money to be spent, but expect the 49ers to be savvy with it.
Leeds United could really go for it in the upcoming summer transfer window if Daniel Farke manages to get the side promoted this season.
Last summer, Leeds United sold Georginio Rutter for £40million and then Archie Gray for another £30million, with several other player sales taking Leeds’ summer sales income well above the £100million mark.
Despite raking in so much money, the 49ers and Farke proved somewhat shrewd with their signings, signing the likes of Joe Rodon for £10million and then signing Ao Tanaka for just £3million in what now seems like the bargain of the season.
If Leeds can return to the Premier League and its riches then the summer ahead could be an expensive one at Elland Road. But even if they do miss out of promotion then Leeds might have put some big money on the table to get themselves ready for a third go at promotion.
Leeds United could quickly change their mind about £15m Manor Solomon
One summer deal that Leeds have been tipped to complete is a permanent deal for Spurs loan man Manor Solomon, who up until recently has been in fine form for the Whites with seven goals and seven assists in 32 Championship appearances so far this season. But the 25-year-old now has just one goal involvement in his last nine appearances.
Against Swansea City, Leeds United fans were critical of Solomon who put in another anonymous performance. It’s not for the first time of late either and Farke may be thinking twice about a potential £15million permanent deal for Solomon this summer, with the Israeli also having been linked with Everton and Southampton.
But what’s most frustrating, at least from the outside looking in, is the fact that Farke seemingly refuses to rotate his attackers despite having so many good options to choose from.
How many minutes each Leeds United attacker has played this season
In Dan James, Largie Ramazani, Wilfried Gnonto and Solomon, Farke has four wide players who can each do a job, and who he could quite easily rotate most weeks to keep the opponent guessing and to keep his side fit and firing.
But it’s James and Solomon who are the preferred options. In fact, both James and Solomon have started every league game since the turn of the year compared to Ramazani and Gnonto who’ve not started a league game since December.

And Farke’s reluctance to rotate his options now seems to be hurting his side with Solomon not at his best. There’s also an argument that James has been hit and miss of late with the Welshman having not scored in his last seven games for Leeds.
The Whites return to action against Luton Town on Saturday and it could be the ideal time for Farke to finally give the likes of Solomon a break.
