Leeds United could hire manager who actually helped Daniel Farke win promotion last season

Daniel Farke could only have weeks remaining at Leeds.

The 49-year-old has to improve at Elland Road with Leeds currently sitting 18th in the Premier League, and The 49ers are already appearing to put succession plans in place ahead of a potential dismissal.

TalkSPORT believe Ange Postecoglou is an option for The 49ers following his departure from Nottingham Forest in October, and it would be an interesting turn of events if that appointment materialised after what happened last season.

Ange Postecoglou helped Daniel Farke get Leeds United promoted but could now take his job

Last term, the Australian did Farke a favour by deciding Manor Solomon was surplus to requirements at Tottenham, and opted to loan the Israel international to Leeds.

The 26-year-old ended up playing a key role as Leeds won the title, scoring ten goals and providing 12 assists in 39 Championship appearances, including that late strike away to Plymouth which secured the trophy.

Postecoglou actually had a severe injury crisis during the winter of last season – missing several important attackers such as Dominic Solanke, Timo Werner and Brennan Johnson.

Even still, he opted against recalling Solomon from his loan at Leeds, which played a huge part in Farke winning promotion with 100 points.

Ange Postecoglou also handed Joe Rodon to Leeds United

Going even further back, it was Postecoglou who decided Joe Rodon had no future at Tottenham, and agreed to sanction a £10m permanent sale of the Wales international to Leeds.

The Welshman was a pivotal cog in that promotion campaign, playing every single second apart from the final four minutes away to Burnley as Leeds conceded just 30 goals in 46 outings.

Rodon has also started the current campaign on fire and is a frontrunner to be named Player of the Season at Elland Road, making that £10m signing seem a complete and utter bargain.

Therefore, Postecoglou would arrive at Elland Road with plenty for Leeds fans to be grateful about, if The 49ers do opt to make him an offer.
