The clock is ticking for Daniel Farke at Leeds.

Pressure is on the German after Leeds slipped to 18th in the Premier League, having lost six of the last seven games.

Farke insisted speculation over his future is not a distraction amid this critical juncture in his Leeds career when speaking on Thursday, saying: “I am just focused and concentrated. I’m not focused on myself. I mentioned outside noise. I quite like that the outside noise is a bit more on the manager and not on the players or whatever.”

However, with talkSPORT now naming two potential replacements for Daniel Farke, it feels like The 49ers are losing faith.

Brendan Rodgers open to managing Leeds United but there are doubts over Ange Postecoglou

Alex Crook has now provided Leeds fans with a significant update, claiming that Ange Postecoglou and Brendan Rodgers are on the shortlist.

The Chief Football Correspondent for talkSPORT said: “The two names that I’m hearing as potential successors. Postecoglou. Whether he would be keen to jump straight into that job, having been a bit burnt at Forest, I’m not sure. Rodgers, I think he is keen to return to management in the Premier League.

“So, one to keep an eye on. I think certainly there’s some substance to the fact that Farke is coming under pressure.”

The 49ers actually looked at hiring Rodgers in the summer of 2023 – he had only recently been sacked by Leicester in April 2023 – although a return to Celtic materialised for the Northern Irishman instead in June 2023.

Leeds then hired Farke a few weeks later in July 2023.

Why Brendan Rodgers could be the ideal mid-season appointment for Leeds United

A mid-season managerial change is often a gamble, with coaches historically discussing the importance of pre-season in terms of getting their ideas across.

However, what is interesting about Rodgers is the fact he plays the same formation as Farke.

Daniel Farke is statistically Leeds’ worst Premier League manager 📉

The 52-year-old typically implements a 4-3-3 shape which can also easily be adjusted to a 4-2-3-1, a system the Leeds squad are accustomed to under Farke.

Therefore, it would presumably be easier for Rodgers to take the reins now and achieve a quicker turnaround in results than it would be for someone with a vastly different approach, for example.
