Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford is a man in demand ahead of January. But his potential Elland Road exit could give Leeds a bargaining chip to bring in a new face.
Patrick Bamford‘s Leeds United future remains very much in doubt, with the striker having made just eight Championship appearances all season.
It was previously revealed that Leeds are open to offers for Bamford in January but that offloading him may be an issue, given his high wages at Elland Road.
Now, it’s being reported that Wrexham and Genoa are interested in Bamford and that both clubs could make their moves in January.
Again though, wages will prove a sticking point, with Bamford thought to be happy to say at Leeds for the time being with his contract not expiring until 2026.
But for Daniel Farke’s side, Bamford could be used as some kind of bargaining tool to potentially bring in a new name of their own in January, and there’s one standout Wrexham player who fits the bill perfectly.
Leeds United should set their sights on Wrexham gem Max Cleworth
Wrexham currently sit in 3rd place of the League One table, and one of their stars of the season so far has been defender Max Cleworth.
The 22-year-old centre-back, who can also operate on the right, is now in his fourth season as a first-team at Wrexham, having this season become a real standout player.
He’s featured 16 times in League One and has scored an impressive four goals from defence, five in all competitions, proving clinical in the air.
His contract at Wrexham runs until the summer of 2027 and so the Dragons would need some encouraging to sell, but an experienced striker like Bamford could be the perfect conversation starter over a potential deal.

Interestingly, Cleworth shares the same agent with Leeds favourite Ao Tanaka: CAA Base Ltd, who also represent the likes of Cole Palmer and many more.

Wrexham fans think Max Cleworth is bound to move to the Championship
Wrexham fans have been in awe of Cleworth for some time now. He’s someone who’s been part of their incredible journey for a long time having come through the youth academy and asserted his starting spot.
And that’s despite some heavy investment from Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, which highlights just how impressive Cleworth has been.
Wrexham fans have spoke positively about Cleworth and have tipped him for a Championship move at some point in the future, possibly in 2025 should the Welsh outfit fail in their quest for promotion this season.
For Leeds, the acquisition of a young and versatile defender could be ideal, with centre-back being a position that Farke is quite light in right now.
