Despite 4-1 loss, Crystal Palace could now do Leeds United a huge favour as rumour emerges

Leeds recently dished out a hammering at Elland Road.

Oliver Glasner even called his Crystal Palace side “embarrassing” as the Eagles conceded four goals in a 4-1 defeat at Elland Road last time out, as Daniel Farke secured one of his very best results in charge of Leeds.

Despite leaving Yorkshire with their tails between their legs, Crystal Palace could now do Leeds a favour as the Telegraph reveal interest in Wolves frontman Jorgen Strand Larsen.

How Crystal Palace signing Jorgen Strand Larsen helps Leeds United

A key detail here is the fact West Ham are determined to sign Larsen – and believe the Norway international could help them claw back ground on Leeds in the relegation battle.

That is a fair belief, considering the Norwegian was the subject of a £55m bid from Newcastle during the summer after scoring 14 goals in 35 Premier League appearances last season.

The Telegraph state that Crystal Palace are set to directly compete against the Hammers for Larsen, so if the Eagles manage to win that race for the Wolves No.9 this winter – as they should with UEFA Conference League football to offer – it would put a big dent in West Ham’s survival chances.

Of course, West Ham could still sign a different striker, but a Premier League proven option like the 25-year-old would be akin to gold dust in a relegation battle, so those at Elland Road would surely prefer Crystal Palace to win that race.

Leeds United could also frustrate West Ham in this winter transfer window

While the Larsen saga is between Crystal Palace and West Ham, Leeds are considering a move for a different Nuno Espirito Santo target.

TEAMtalk believe Leeds are discussing a swoop for El Chadaille Bitshiabu of RB Leipzig, and are confident that their connection with Red Bull will help them sign the Frenchman ahead of West Ham.

With the Hammers sitting 18th on just 13 points after 17 games, they are hardly going to be very attractive for prospective signings this winter, so January could prove to be a miserable time for those in east London.
