For the first time this season, Leeds United scored four goals in one match as Daniel Farke’s side brushed aside FA Cup, Community Shield winners Crystal Palace at Elland Road.
In a game we declared Daniel Farke’s biggest as Leeds manager, Leeds had the chance to go six points clear of the drop zone. West Ham would go to Man City before Leeds played, and duly lost easily, 3-0.
Ethan Ampadu was majestic vs Palace. Does he deserve more recognition at Leeds? Let us know in the comments
Leeds would double the gap between themselves and the Hammers with a win against Palace. Farke has reiterated that he dreams of re-establishing Leeds as a Premier League club, and Saturday was a big step.
Two more for Dominic Calvert-Lewin, a first-ever Premier League goal for Ethan Ampadu, and a third Leeds goal for Anton Stach saw Leeds cruise to a 4-1 win. But it could have easily been more on the night.

Oliver Glasner thinks Leeds United could have scored more goals
The win sees Leeds climb into 16th, having won eight points from their last four games – a significant improvement from their previous 13 games, in which they had only won 11. A clean sheet eludes Leeds.
But in his post-match comments, Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner praised Leeds and their potency from set-pieces, while claiming Leeds could have scored two or three more, taking a possible tally to seven.
“We couldn’t deal with their physicality today. We conceded four goals from set-pieces; it’s embarrassing. We could have conceded two or three more from set-plays. Every set-play, throw-in, was dangerous.”
Six points clear of the bottom three – Leeds can start to relax… can’t they? 😤
Leeds United match 24-year record with 4-1 win over Palace
Back in the 2001-02 season, Leeds would finish in fifth place and while that looks good on paper, failure to qualify for the Champions League would see financial issues begin. A debt of £80m by November 2002.
During the turn of the year that season, Leeds scored three goals in three consecutive Premier League home games. A 3-2 win over Everton, a 4-3 loss to Newcastle and then beating West Ham 3-0.
Robbie Fowler got a brace against Everton, Mark Viduka against West Ham. On Saturday, it was the first time Leeds had scored three or more goals in three Premier League home games in a row, 24 years.
It comes after Leeds brushed aside Club World Cup champions Chelsea 3-1 at Elland Road, before a late Ao Tanaka goal saw Leeds equalise against Liverpool. Leeds are next in action away at Sunderland.
