Daniel Farke has made his view clear on where Leeds United still need more reinforcements, and there’s one £26m player who could fill this tactical gap.

With the summer transfer window nearing its completion, Daniel Farke is still looking to improve numerous areas of the team, as they prepare for the club’s return to the Premier League.

Lukas NmechaJaka BijolSebastiaan BornauwGabriel GudmundssonSean LongstaffAnton Stach, and Lucas Perri have arrived at Elland Road in recent months, but there is still one piece Farke has expressed is missing.

With their opener versus Everton only weeks away, Farke’s recent admission is surely a rallying cry to the Leeds hierarchy.

Everton’s Beto is the attacking reinforcement Daniel Farke needs

Despite Leeds’ recent transfer activity, the boss, Daniel Farke, believes they need to “add some quality” to their attacking options in order to be competitive in the Premier League.

“We know in the offence we are not ready for Premier League level,” Farke said after Saturday’s 1-1 pre-season draw against Villarreal. “We’ve proven we can be ready for one game and for that I am not too concerned at the moment as it stands.

“I know especially with the offence, in the last bit you can add some quality. Of course as a manager you want all the players available on the first day of pre-season and to have training sessions with them because they need to adapt to the group and the principles.”

Farke’s comments are surely something sporting director, Adam Underwood, cannot ignore and Everton’s Beto is surely the man for Leeds.

Everton signed Beto from Udinese for £26m back in 2023, a significant transfer that Leeds may be able to afford if the right decisions are made in the closing weeks of the transfer window.

Would Beto be the final piece to Leeds United’s attacking puzzle?

Everton’s manager David Moyes has said he would sell Beto, so how would he fit into Leeds United’s attack? Alongside the likes of Joel Piroe and Lukas Nmecha.

During his 60 Premier League appearances for Everton, Beto scored 11 goals. A key strength is his aerial ability, winning a high percentage of duels and making him a constant threat on crosses and set-pieces.

His lack of assists and lower pass completion rates flag that his primary role is to be a finisher, not a creator, giving Daniel Farke tactical flexibility.

Beto could lead the line as a traditional target man, using his strength to occupy defenders and create space for mobile attackers like Joel Piroe. Alternatively, he could be used as an impact substitute to change the game’s dynamic late on.

His addition isn’t about replacing Piroe or Nmecha, but rather about providing the ‘quality’ that Daniel Farke has called for to help Leeds adapt to the varied challenges of the Premier League.
