Daniel Farke finally proven right in signing Leeds United ace, dazzling Cardiff display his best performance yet

Despite plenty of criticism surrounding his management of the club since taking over in 2023, Daniel Farke’s work in the transfer window has been excellent.

Throughout the year and a bit he has sat in the Leeds hot seat, Daniel Farke has brought in the likes of Ethan Ampadu, Ilia Gruev, Joe Rodon, Glen Kamara, Joel Piroe, Manor Solomon and plenty more.

It is difficult to pick out a player signed by Leeds during Farke’s era that has not worked. Djed Spence is one but Farke’s decision to cancel his loan was the right move, which most Leeds fans will agree with.

But, one player is under the spotlight after a tricky start since arriving at Elland Road earlier this summer. Jayden Bogle has started all six Championship games and came on in the Carabao Cup against Middlesbrough.

The £5m arrival from Sheffield United has found it tricky to begin with, earning plenty of criticism from fans and pundits for his perceived difficulty in actually defending but on Saturday, that all changed.

Jayden Bogle proves Leeds doubters wrong with best display yet

Conceding a penalty against Portsmouth, Andy Hinchcliffe said Leeds ace Bogle was “all over the place” at Sheffield Wednesday. Neil Redfearn said Bogle was “hit and miss” after Leeds beat Hull City.

It was Bogle who failed to close down Luca Koleosho in the loss to Burnley. But against Cardiff last time out, Farke’s trust in Bogle paid off as the £5m man finally proved why Leeds had brought him to the club.

Indeed, it was by far and away his best performance in a Leeds shirt yet and while a 10-man Cardiff was not the sternest of tests, Bogle came through it with flying colours and the stats prove just that.

Bogle’s stats against Cardiff prove Farke was right

WhoScored gave Bogle a rating of 7.37, Leeds’ second-highest behind Junior Firpo. That is despite the former Derby and Sheffield United man picking up a yellow card in the first half of the 2-0 victory.

Bogle’s stats in Leeds’ win against Cardiff:

Perhaps, Bogle’s initial appearances in a Leeds shirt were about the right-back getting used to Farke and playing for a club the size of Leeds. Maybe he just needed a few games to get it right at Elland Road.

But on Saturday, he showed Leeds fans what he can do and hopefully that gives Bogle a bit of confidence and allows him to grow in a Leeds shirt, further proving the doubters wrong and why Farke signed him.
