Leeds United’s win over Hannover 96 included new signing Jayden Bogle for the first time, and a first return to the Leeds side for Brenden Aaronson since relegation.
A game that was played behind closed doors against second-tier Hannover that Leeds eventually won 4-1, thanks to goals from Ilia Gruev and Joel Piroe, as well as brace from Mateo Joseph in the second half.
It is difficult to pinpoint any that had a particularly bad game but plenty of eyes will have been on Bogle and Aaronson given it was their first time in a Leeds shirt, or at least for while. Here’s how they played.

Aaronson shows he can replace Crysencio Summerville on left
When Aaronson announced he would be returning to Leeds rather than looking to leave the club, it was expected Daniel Farke would use him in the 10 role especially as The Whites are lacking in that position.
Wearing the no.11 shirt on Wednesday, he played the first 45 on the left wing and that ability to cut inside onto his right allowed Junior Firpo the space to get forward on the overlap, much like Summerville does.
With Summerville expected to leave in the coming weeks, Leeds will need a new candidate for the left flank. Aaronson proved that he can play in that role, and his assist for Ilia Gruev was a work of art.
The USA star tired towards the end of his 45-minute stint, but he looks stronger which Tony Dorigo eluded to in his verdict on Aaronson. In Aaronson, Leeds already have their replacement for Summerville.

Jayden Bogle does exactly what is said on the tin after £5m arrival
Bogle came off the bench at half-time and instantly got up to join the attack. Sam Byram is a solid right-back, defensively excellent and good from set-pieces. But he lacks what Bogle contributes going forward.
The 23-year-old right-back was signed from Sheffield United for his ability go forward, his goals and his assists. On numerous occasions he got forward and even got to the byline, but has the pace to get back.
His assist for Joseph’s second had Bogle’s style of play wrapped all around it. Reaching the byline after good play by Joseph and then Charlie Crew, driving at the defence and picking a man out in the box.
Sheffield United expert Lee Connor told LeedsUnited.News that Bogle would suit Leeds and on this showing, he is not wrong. Bogle’s directness, his ability to cross and his decision making stood out.
