Leeds United are interested in raiding rivals Sheffield United for Jayden Bogle and we spoke to Blades expert Lee Connor about a potential move to Elland Road for the right-back.

Bogle, 23, was a regular for Sheffield United last season. He played in 34 of his current side’s 38 Premier League games as the Blades were eventually relegated to the Championship a year after being promoted.

A player that has starred in the Championship over the years, playing 115 times for Sheffield United and Derby. In that time, he has scored eight goals and laid on 16 assists from the right side of the defence.

But Bogle has now entered the final 12 months of his contract at Bramall Lane and Leeds are looking to take advantage. Daniel Farke wants to take Bogle to Elland Road as a replacement for Connor Roberts.

Sheffield United expert on Leeds interest in Jayden Bogle

Often playing on the right of a 3-4-3 system last term, Bogle even scored three Premier League goals. His goals came against Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United and that in itself is very impressive.

We spoke to SheffieldUnited.News writer Lee Connor, and he gave us the lowdown on Bogle. What the right-back is like as a player, what kind of fee he may cost and what’s going on with his contract situation.

“Unsure [why his deal has been allowed to run down]. We’ve got into a habit of this under this ownership and it’s a massive issue with fans. Berge, Ndiaye, McBurnie, all now off the books due to similar issues.

“I’d imagine we’d sell if he shows little sign of renewing. Bogle is no mug, he played the majority of our games last season against some tough wingers. No worse than anyone else in the back four or five.”

Bogle sale would annoy Sheffield United fans, what kind of price

Given he was one of Sheffield United’s better players, Blades fans are keen to see him stay and Connor says it would annoy fans if he goes and especially to Leeds even if they have signed Jamie Shackleton.

It is unclear how much Sheffield United would want for Bogle, but Connor says anything less than £5m would anger fans further. The Blades expert does believe Bogle would suit Daniel Farke’s side, however.

“It would be more of an annoyance to the fans if Bogle joined Leeds. I personally can’t see Chris Wilder wanting to lose Bogle and with this question, I’d imagine he’s not one to want to strengthen Leeds either.

“I’d be disappointed with anything below £5m. The last 12 months of his deal is an issue but below £5m would wind fans up. I have a feeling he stays if this new ownership comes off in the next few weeks.

“I’d imagine he’ll suit Leeds given you’re going to have a lot of the ball and be on the front foot. He is brilliant at times in the final third. Got a goal in him, has a trick to beat a man and has good pace.”

Could be an excellent signing for Leeds, then. But it may hinge on what Sheffield United want for Bogle, and whether the player is keen on a move to Elland Road having spent the last four years at Bramall Lane.
