‘You couldn’t make it up’… Leeds United fans enraged as EFL make ‘unbelievable’ decision ahead of Luton

Leeds United will want to get things back on track with their trip to Luton Town on Saturday but there might be obstacles along the way.

Daniel Farke will have pressure building on him as the Whites have lost their grasp on the Championship title.

However, promotion is still firmly up for grabs, but now it’s up to Farke’s squad to return to the Premier League.

Uncertainty has filled the club over their goalkeeper situation, but Illan Meslier has been dropped for Karl Darlow.

This will relieve Leeds fans, but the latest announcement will bring them back down to earth.

Leeds United fans fuming at EFL announcement ahead of Luton Town

It will be a telling few weeks in terms of what happens with the status of Leeds next season.

Fans will be praying they don’t slip into the playoffs for the second season running, as Jobi McAnuff said it’s ‘imperative’ they got top two.

Although they have been fluffing up things recently, the EFL aren’t exactly helping them.

Thomas Bramall is the referee for Luton vs. Leeds. You might wonder why this is bad. Well, Bramall is Sheffield-born, which rings alarm bells to Leeds fans due to Sheffield United’s status in the Championship.

This has brought rage from Whites fans over on X, who have been appalled by the decision.

@FlamboroughBoy angrily said: “@FA_PGMOL @EFL @EFL_Comms @SkyFootball it’s unbelievable that you appoint a Sheffield born ref to officiate a Sheffield direct rival! What happened to integrity in the game!”

@BridewellTaxi claimed: “A Sheffield born manager, reffing one of the biggest games of the season to date, what could go wrong….?”

@marty_henry questioned the decision, saying: “Bramall? From Sheffield? You’ll be revealing he’s Wilder’s brother-in-law next!”

“Born in Sheffield. Surname Bramall (hands on face emoji),” @WhiteKnightLUFC said in disappointment.

@Partonlad sent a message, saying: “Good luck to Tom. But a sheff lad called Bramall might lean against rivals Leeds ha…”

@OrterOuter66688 summed it up: “Sheffield-born referee, you couldn’t make it up.”

This isn’t the first time the EFL have done this to Leeds

The decision to appoint Bramall for this game might bring back shades of Deja vu.

Wilder will be giggling at this prospect, especially if the Whites feel hard done by through decisions made during the game.

Well, the EFL have now made this mistake for the second time, as Sheffield fan Craig Pawson almost refereed Leeds before a late change.

It doesn’t look like they’ll be a late change this time around though, and Farke might have questions if errors crop up during such a crucial game.
