Leeds United secured a 12th Championship win in 13 games on Friday night against Sheffield Wednesday, moving into second place – and Paul Heckingbottom believes they will get promoted.
Goals from Patrick Bamford and Willy Gnonto proved enough for Leeds as the impenetrable Welsh wall of Ethan Ampadu and Joe Rodon helped keep another clean sheet. A ninth clean sheet in 12 games.
In that time, Leeds have conceded three goals. Our run of form and momentum is kicking in at just the right time. An 11th win in 12 league games since th eturn of the year. but it was not all plain-sailing.
Indeed, Wednesday probably shaded the first half and should have scored from a corner – had it not been for a vital stop from Illan Meslier. But Leeds continue to churn out win after win, and go second.
Former Leeds United manager Paul Heckingbottom was a pundit on Sky Sports’ coverage of the match and he believes Leeds are producing the kind of form that will get them up come the end of the season.
“They’re in the form that will carry them to the Premier League. No easy games. Today showed, many clubs are scrapping. Second half, they showed they’re at the top of the division. Worthy winners.”

Paul Robinson said even before the win over Wednesday, that he feels Leeds have what it takes to go up automatically. It was a brilliant win at Hillsborough, against a side that are in excellent form of late.
