Wilfried Gnonto headed straight down the tunnel after Leeds United’s 4-1 win over Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
That is according to the Yorkshire Evening Post’s Graham Smyth, who shared that as one of a number of off-camera moments during the emphatic West Yorkshire derby win.
After an ineffective performance on his return to the starting XI against Stoke City on Wednesday, Gnonto was dropped back to the bench alongside Jaidon Anthony, Archie Gray and Ilia Gruev at the weekend.
Gnonto was then brought on for the final 30 minutes with Leeds already 4-0 ahead, as Daniel Farke opted to hand Crysencio Summerville a little rest after his sensational display.
Understandably so, the intensity of Leeds’ second-half performance dropped off significantly and so Gnonto did not have as much involvement as he would’ve liked.
Gnonto straight down the tunnel after Leeds win
Gnonto’s relationship with Leeds supporters is still in the process of healing after a summer transfer window which saw him refuse to play, and hand in a transfer request.
However, with that said, there is little point reading into something like this as it isn’t really much of a big deal.

While Gnonto is still looking to re-find his best form, he has seemingly put his summer ordeal behind him. His celebration alongside Summerville for the Dutchman’s first goal was clear evidence of that.
Gnonto was also spotted after the wins over Watford, QPR and Bristol City walking round the pitch and thanking supporters, despite the fact he was injured and unavailable for those matches.
So, with all that said, it is likely Gnonto was just a little frustrated with how his 30-minute cameo panned out, as opposed to him still feeling unhappy after failing to secure a transfer.
